Default 1000 Point Guard Army- UPDATED! Please look. :)

Hey

Well I have been going through guard list after guard list trying to find one that I like and is effective, and after a few lists here's my most recent one which I am liking. If you comment (please do) don't suggest anything tank related, as I'm set on an all infantry list. I also have a question... see end of post.

Should I bother having a ccw + laspistol Sergeants in my 10 man troop squads or should I just give them lasguns as well?

If you're gonna go for the leadership vox web, you might a well go the whole nine yards and make it a heroic senior so you get Ld 10 across the board.

The vetern squad with the flamers is a huge waste. You may as well have just taken a special weapon squad, would have been cheaper, better placement time and it isnt wasting an elite slot.

The infantry squads are decent, but you've only got one anti-tank weapon on the board, drop the GL out of that squad, and turn some of those HB/GL squads into missiles or lascannons.

I dont really see the point in him to be honest. I doubt he'll be all that handy, your Command HQ should stay well hidden anyway.

I don't see a lot of point in the Grenade Launcher it wont hurt what the Missiles will be shooting at. The only time they are really useful is when you pack a Command Squad full of them. I'd drop it and save the points.

The Grenade Launcher is ok here. You don't want too many squads like this though.

You need some Lascannon support. You will have a hard time popping AV 14 without it. Just stick a lone Las in here.

Either drop the Grenade Launcher, or drop the Missiles and get 4 Grenade Launchers. That way you can engage enemy transports. Or just bust tanks with the Missiles.

Go for the Plas with the Autocannon. It's best to keep the strength of your weapons equal. They can both hurt AV 13 with this set up. Plus your lacking in low AP weapons. Termies, Daemon Princes, Nid Monsters, Oblits and anything with Artificier armour your going to find nearly impossible to kill without some low AP weapons. Those things will tear up your lines in no time.

Ok, Thanks for the comments guys, I have made changes and kept some comments in mind.

The reason I didn't go for the plasma guns in the autocannon teams is that I don't want to have to buy more of those darned blister packs, and grenade launchers are relitivly close strength. Plus, my autocannons should be shooting at infantry alot, as I don't see many tanks/big bugs in my area, so grenade launchers will prove usefull there.

One major change is I dropped all the vox casters. I was under the wrong impression with the commisar thing, so I will use vox's and herioc senious in the bigger point games, in these ones I'll stick to relying on my leadership bubble from the command platoons.

Yeah, if price is an issue then fair enough on the Grenade Launchers. Although you can get them for about £1 on mail order.

Give the sergeants lasguns. I dont see much point at all in that Flamer squad, I suppose it could come in handy against a Nid horde player or Ork player that gets careless.

I'd probably lose that power weapon too.

Thanks for the reply again, been really helpful, finually comming to a list that I am really happy with.

I agree with those suggestions, and done some last changes to the list thats in the first post:

-Removed power weapon from Junior Officer
-Removed special weapons squad with the flamers
=Changed CCW+las Pistols on sergeants to lasguns
+Added 4 more guardsmen with lasguns to the hardened veteran squads, bring them both to 10 guardsmen

so.. thanks alot guys. If anyone wants to make any more comments please feel free to.
