Default Vespids

Ok, before I commit any mistake, is it possible (fluff-wise) to make a Vespid CC unit? I ask this because they have their sharp claws capable of cutting anything.

Just because vespids have sharp claws that can be used for digging does not mean they can cut anything.

If vespids were capable of slicing things up in combat with their claws it would have been reflected in their rules, clearly they are not. Effectivley a vespids claws are, at best as deadly as a chainsword, which is pretty deadly, but game wise means just a regular close combat weapon.

I always thought their stingers should be poisoned weapons. Wound on a 2+ or 4+.

Thanks for answering. I thought that they could cut anything because they could cut things that not even tau machinery could, but I am obviously wrong.
Thanks though

The Vespids may have poison stingers, but IIRC, they loath to use them.

You could always make a new strain of them, maybe something mantis-like in nature. I'm not knowledgeable in Vespid biology (not a fan, I use count-as models, Tau with Jetpacks), so I'm not sure if there are different strains of Vespid or if they can mutate.

But as far as doing something wrong, the Vespid don't have a whole lot of fluff. There really isn't anything to say that they are not melee combatants, but there really isn't anything to say that they are (at least not that I'm aware of). As long as you don't do something crazy (like giving them C'tan Phase weapons), I would imagine you would be fine,

Doesn't DoW DC's Vespids have a micro called "shredding" or something like that, where they use their claws and rip GKs like paper?

The vespid in the tau codex practically are a close combat squad if you compare them to the rest of the army. Keep in mind that in tau terms a "close combat juggernaut" means "anybody who can punch his way out of a wet paper bag." I would have no objection to a house rule of a different sect of vespid that specializes in close combat, though. They're a big and advanced enough population for that to make sense. I think it would be interesting if they were not allowed strain leaders. Since all strain leaders wear the tau interface helmet, which is rumored to control their minds, they might think like a tau and not be able to study melee combat.

I made a vespid codex a year or two ago, it had a cc specialist squad in it.

It was on wargamer's sticky but that's gone now so here is a link
