Default Couple Ideas for Tau...

First, allow Kroot and Gue'vesa to use Photon grenades as frag grenades or plasma grenades. Photon grenades "blind and disorient" does this not sound a lot like what frag grenades are used for?

Second, something similar to the mob up rule for drone squadrons, possibly including drone controllers as well. This one could be harder to explain in background material requireing a change in programing, but to me it just makes sense that when two of the networks drones work on come close together that they would link up.

Frag grenades sow sharp chunks of metal at high speed through an area of dense terrain.
Does that sound like a photon grenade?
Although, Kroot should have access to some kind of grenade, but then again, they do have fieldcraft.

There used to be something similar, but it was a penalty for having below a certain number.
If there 4 or less drones, their Ld automatically dropped to 4.

Frag and plasma grenades are used to keep the defender's heads down during the last few feet of the attachers charge and stun them enough to reduce or negate the advantage of cover. Would not useing photon grenades acomplish the same thing?

When I first came to this topic, an read "kroot...gue'vesa...grenades" i was thinking "argh, now for the CC tau!"

But I'm happily surprised. ;D

Now, about the Grenades. I think Kroot should be able to get the options presented to Kroot Mercenaries. But some Tau-engineered weaponry isn't bad either. DO you want something to deny the I10 in cover, or do you want something for damage? I'd personally think the I10 denial would be better-suited, fluffwise and gamewise.

Now about the drones. Mob Up...is that the rule where orks can make fallng-back greenskins join a unit, or is it the one where th unit can count up the number of greenskins, and use that for the leadership?

Either way, I think the drones should only be able to use these in the absence of a Spotter. But you may want to create some more drone teams so you can get some use of them. I have a few in my sig if you want to use them, or modify them.

Not really.

The reason Frags work is that being dug in is the worst place to be when they go off. Imagine a firecracker - if it goes off in your hand when it's out flat, you get burned; make a fist, and you lose your fingers. Frags rely on ricochets, and the enemy being close in. On open ground, the enemy can see them coming, and can keep spread out to lessen injury.

Photon Grenades blind the enemy. Now, if you're charging a fortified position, this is very bad. If you're sat behind a ferrocrete wall, manning a Heavy Stubber that pumps out 10 rounds a second, you'd be using spray-and-pray anyway, so what does it matter if all you can see are vague blurs?
