Legends of Captain Morgan are recounted in pirate drinking houses across the Old World and beyond. It is said that Captain Morgan tamed a mighty sea dragon to do his bidding. It is said that Captain Morgan once captured a Black Ark to use as his ship. It is also said that Captain Morgan is the Emperor of Cathay, but then pirates will say anything when drunk.
What is true about Captain Morgan is he is dead. What is also true is that this hasn't hampered his career much. Captain Morgan still leads his men to plunder and pillage the oceans, driven by an eternal thirst for rum and gold. Captain Morgan and the Undead Pirates are a Dogs of War unit, and must be fielded exactly as described below.

MWsBsSTWIALd

Morgan443442439

Pirate432331113

For Hire: Captain Morgan and nine Undead Pirates, including Standard Bearer and Musician, cost 190pts. You may hire up to 20 additional Undead Pirates for +10pts per model. Any army except Bretonnians may hire Captain Morgan's Undead Pirates. In a Dogs of War or Zombie Pirate army they count as a Special Choice. In all other armies, they count as Rare. Equipment: Captain Morgan and his crew are all armed with a hand weapon, a brace of pistols and light armour. Special Rules: Undead: Being dead, Captain Morgan's crew is not concerned (or affected by) many things that would trouble the living. All models in the unit cause Fear, are Unbreakable and Immune to Psychology. In addition, if the unit loses a combat, it suffers a number of wounds equal to the difference in combat resolution. Finally, if Captain Morgan dies the unit cannot March, and must take a Ld test each turn. For every point they fail the check by, the unit suffers one casualty. Undead units may either Hold or Stand and Shoot as a charge reaction. Drowned: Having died at sea, the Undead Pirates are not slowed much by water. They treat rivers, lakes, swamps and other water-based terrain as open terrain when moving, and count as being in soft cover when in these terrain features. Soggy Guns: Whilst Captain Morgan only uses the finest powder, his men tend to use whatever they can; which tends to be whatever is lying at the bottom of the sea. To represent this, Undead Pirates (not Captain Morgan!) will always hit on a roll of 6 when shooting their pistols. However, if a 1 is rolled then the shot is resolved on the unit! These shots can never be allocated on Captain Morgan. Wight: Captain Morgan is a Wight. As such, all attacks he makes his hand weapon count as Magical, and have Killing Blow.

These look very similar to the undead pirates that came out in a WD suppliment along with Lustria.
Why do the Soggy Guns let them always hit on a roll of 6? In some cases thats helpful, and I don't see why wet powder would be benifical...

Well, firstly, they are based on the Zombie Pirates of the Vampire Coast... hence why Zombie Pirates can take them as a Special choice!
Secondly, they don't so much fire their guns as misfire them; their guns are just as likely to blow up as to shoot the enemy, and the undead aren't good aimers at the best of times. In short, it's just for sheer randomness.

Perfect then.
![]() The fact that they are pirates makes me think that they should be skirmishers. However a unit of 30 skirmishers seems...huge. I can't think of a way to really impliment that. Then again being undead and lead by Morgon they probablly wouldn't be unruly as living pirates would be...

Remember that Long Drong's pirates fight as a regiment, not Skirmishers. Whilst being able to fight alone does sound like a good skill for a pirate, it takes a lot of organisation to break a port defended by State Troops. As such, I think only Marines would Skirmish; normal Pirates would have to fight in a more orderly pattern if they hoped to survive on the battlefield.

Did you mean to put a brace of Handguns as opposed to a Brace of Pistols?, they'd have to be pretty massive zombies if thats the case.
If thats just a typo though, it's a cool unit. Can't see anything else wrong with it.
