Hey i had an idea, Fire Warriors pack a mighty punch, and thats pretty much all they have. Well I'm thinking you know how the Space Marines have tactical Marines, well i'm thinking we could strap some jet packs to the Fire Warriors for a couple more points. They will be alot more versitile and alot more useful than cover fire.
Well Tell me guys what you think?

As ive said in another thread about Fire Warriors getting special weapons.
No. The Tau are unique, they have special weapons and movement benefits on the suits, by changing this it would make the Tau the same as everything else. They are fine the way they are.

This may have already been thought of but here is an idea
Fire Warrior Shock troopers * * * * * * *points* * WS* *BS* *S* *T* *W* *I* *A* *LD* *SV Shas'la* * * 18* * * * 2* * * 3* * 3* *3* * 1* *2* *1* * 7* * 4+ Shas'ui* * *+ 10* * * 2* * * 3* * 3* *3* * 1* *2* *2* * 8* * 4+ Team: The team consists of 4-8 Shock Troopers Equipment: Pulse Rifle. The Shock troopers are fitted with jjet packs. Thus they can move 6" in the movement phase, and 6" in the assualt phase regardless if they are assualting or not. Options: Up to have of the Shock troopers in a team may exchange their Pulse Rifle for a Pulse Carbine at no aditional cost.The team may be equiped with Photon grenades at +1 point per model and EMP grenades for +3 points per model Character: One Shock trooper Shas'la may be upgraded to a Shas'ui team leader at +10 points. The team leader may then buy equipment from the armory. The Shas'ui may buy a Markerlight at an additional +10 points. Special Rules Bonded: The team may be bonded by Ta'lissera at an additional cost of +10 points for the whole team.

Well, we mentioned it last time, but you can't in good conscience give a Tau infantry unit the ability to move 18" in a single turn. Aside from that, I guess it seems a little too close in both appearance and tacitical role to the stealth suits and a normal mechanized Fire Warrior squad. The models could be pretty interesting, looking like a fire warrior with the stealthsuit jetpack.

I think the ideal thing is to give the Tau a Fst Attack skimmer unit, basically just like Imperial Speeders, although I really like that all of thier FA slots now are really unconventional. I mean, Drones are quentisential Deep Strike, rapid movement FA choices, but their LD stinks for it and it gets worse, plus the have lousey BS even with twin linking and moderate saves. PFs are just weird - they're a combo unit that has Hvy Wpns, a fast ship they have to take, but can't use both and the same time. Kroothounds are really a supplementary Troops slot, but I suppose GW just didnt' want to add them as "Add up to 8 Kroothounds for a cost of 10pts per additional model, and here's what they do" to the Carnivores entry - no idea why. Krootox should work the same way, freeing up that HVY slot too, but that's off track.
It's tough though to try and think of something that differs to Speeders or Vypers or whatever and apply it to the Tau. Calvary? Maybe a unit that can always Deep Striek regardless of Mission (but we all pretty much play Gamma, right - lol). No idea.

Hers an idea for a skimmer bike
Sawfish armor front side rear pt. 60 10 10 10 Type: Bike, Skimmer Crew: Tau fire cast Weapons: A Sawfish is armed with a primary weapon system and a secondary weapon system. The primary weapon system is either a Burst Cannon +10 pts, Fusion blaster +12 pts, Missle pod + 14 pts, or a plasma rifle +16 pts The secondary weapon system is two twin linked Pulse Rifles. The vehicle may swap the two twin linked Pulse Rifles for two twin linked Pulse Carbines at no additional cost Options: The Sawfish may be equiped with any of the Tau vehicle upgrades permitted from the armory
