AFter the Military forces pull off a secure Tau planet the Tau Planetary Defence Force comes in.
Also known as the "PDF".

The PDF as there called because
They only fight on the planet they are dropped onto.
Although once the plaet is taken by a sept and there security force is trained the PDF will take off to secure and hold the next planet the Tau fleet has claimed for the greater good.

While the military moves on to further expand the greater good the PDF sets up and runs the military outposts set up during the warring that took place on the planets surface.

The PDF are not Exactly military soldiers even though they are trained in all aspects of the military but are then selected into the PDF to protect and serve the greater good.
They sort of work outside of it.
Able to go places where the military may not.
Adn question and aquire things the military strict code may not allow them to the PDF may do so.

The PDF have special training in processing and handling aliens.
All these aliens that have to be processed and handled would bog down the military why they are trying to fight on and expand.

So this is where the PDF comes in.

There are several branches of the PDF.
HQ:

Elites: Special teams, Crisis Suits and stealth units.
Bounty Hunters to chase down wanted criminal scum bags.

Troops:
Fire Warriors
Tau Allies

Fast attack:
Drones

heavy Support:
Broadsides.
Crayfish
Other suits

The Tau opperate in an office crew and a Field crew.
The office crew try to arrest and detain the wanted criminals and punish or exterminate them

The field crew actually work allmost the same as a military unit and have almost the same organization as the military.

They use special gear and equipment. Like the special
XV-911 Crisis Suits.
These suits are structurally stronger built suits that utilise the Broadsides Suitsf frames and built apon them to take on more punishment and handle more damage and hold its structural integrity.

They have Defensive weapons and gear instead of offensive.
Carrying only a single offensive weapons and the rest of there gear is Defensive weapons and the rest of the suits power and supply systems not to mention technology is advanced and pushed to protect the pilot an the suit.

With no military around and sometimes reinforcements months away if a fight should brake out these suits must sustain damage and battle conditions for an extended amount of time.

The suits are covered in special Flak Vests and Gear.
Special Bullet Proof soft armor.
The vest covers the Kneck, shoulders, pilots compartment, forearms, and thighs of legs.
All of the most volnurable areas of attack.The english translation for this type of flak or soft armor is "Kevlainium".

They have very large Shield Generators.
Which can be carried like large riot shields.
And they carry Pulse Batons. Highly powerful powered batons that can blow down walls to allow them access to buildings let alone what it could do to an alien scum bag.

The suits armor and power is is highly increased by not using its power to be used on jump jets.
With most of the fighting always being in towns with crowds and riots the suit just did not need them.

The suits where simpley easier to transport by skimmers or if stationed close to urban areas where able to respond quickly and the added power was better used in the strength and increase in armor without trying to make them light enought to be able to use a jump pack.

Not to menchin the suits had to deal with urban building and houses and needed to be able to move in and around homes and structures and be able to enter and fight in city streets and urban areas and indoors.
Making jump packing almost out of the question.

The suits at the end start to sound sort of like Termi armor. Overall very cool idea. I would think more Railguns in a defence force though.

Er... Railguns? I would just like to point out that these guys are more like Adeptus Arabites, they are police and enforcers not an army. Railguns are the top line Tau weapon used to attack tanks, these guys aern't going to be fighting many tanks I would assume.

Anyway... sounds fun Grey Death, I assume your already working on conversions for these guys?

One very big fluff snag: The Tau PDF is already shown in Codex: Tau. They're called Fire Warriors, or Auxilliaries. Each caste does only it's alloted role, emaning Fire Caste have to do all the fighting, unless there is REAL trouble. EVERY Fire Warrior is Military. Only Shas'Saal trainees would be used as a 'PDF' and even then, only in a dire emergency, as they are normally used as gaurds, or police. A Sept's Defence Force is made up of Fire Warriors born on that world.

Tau Arbites are also in Codex Tau. they're called Fire Warriors too. IIRC it's mainly trainees who do policing duties, as Tau have no real need for a police force in the way the Imperium does, but obviously, it would take very dire circumstances to see Trainees face fully trained enemy soldiers.

Certainly, some earth caste workers would have basic weapons training in some situations, the construction of a military base in an area with some ferocious animals, for example. But they would have very bad profiles...

What you just gave us is the profile of a Human Conscript, shouldn't it be about 8 points instead? I am assuming your arming them with a pulse rifle or carbine.

Grey Deaths idea is cool, a tau unit thats useful in cc (those batons sound like power weapons!) and they coud still fit fluff because you could say that they are drone controlled (samrt drones like crayfish)

It really helps me work out the bugs and fluff sangs.

Well thats ok if the Police force is already talked about on the Taus own home planet this I understand.

But its not discussed on off world hostile planets after a major war and befroe it becomes a Tau sept world?

So I came up with this idea so I can build an army of them.

The Rail guns will be included but only when a Tank or seriously heavy fighting out of towns is anticipated.
The Broadsides will not be as set up as the Crisis Versions.

The hole point is to make a highly defensive army instead of highly offensive.

Can it be done?

Maybe?

I would think of this as an army that goes out and takes control of each planet to allow the actual military fleet to move on.

Maybe like Military reserves or something like that?

But not Nation Guard because the Tau septs provide there own which allows this army to move on againt to the next planet once the tau sept police are in place.

Good stuff thanks for the thinking I had to do.

And conversions will be on there way.

That's a good idea but it still needs some work. I get what your saying too. The PDF come in and guard the planet after war but before the colony ships arrive. One problem read page 51 of Codex: Tau

Oh boy.....

Well what about this army comes in on planets where resistants have been to strong for the sept police.
Because it does say the sept police are not as good or strong as the military or fire warriors.

So help me out?
