Default XV-94 Battle suits

An alarming new trend appears to be developing amongst the Farsight Enclaves. As more of the Fire Caste defect they bring the enclaves some of the newest and most recent innovations in battlesuit technology.
Either their firecaste have learned a great deal about engineering, or they are being aided by some outside group, and modifying this stolen knowledge. The application of this is in new weapons and designs of battlesuits being seen on battle fields where the Farsight Enclaves are present.

The most common design of these new suits is the XV-94 "Event" suit.
While somewhat smaller than Crisis suits the XV-94 is equipped with more powerful engines and an advanced servo system capable of incredible reaction times. In addition they have been noted to achieve extremely high velocities while hovering less than a meter above the ground. This speed burst seems to use a large amount of fuel though so they thankfully do not perform this maneuver often.
However the power requirements of these additional systems reduce the number of available hardpoints and scanning equipment that the XV-94 carries compared to the XV-8, or VX-88.

A Farsight Enclave army may contain up to 1 squad of XV-94 "Event" Battlesuits.

Equipment:

Every XV-94 incorporates an advanced jet pack and upgraded servo motors. The Upgraded servos give +1 initiative (included in profile). The advanced jet pack counts as a normal jet pack. In addition the squad has the Fleet special ability. Once per game the whole unit may move as per the Turbo Boosters special ability.
Note: XV-94 suits CANNOT deep strike. The horizontal thrusters have a reduced power output due the upgraded vertical thrusters. Additionally the fuel requirements of deep striking would interfere with the battle field efficiency of the XV-94. The XV-94 does NOT have the Acute sense special rule.

Every XV-94 must fill 2 hard points using options from the list below. Note that there are less options for the XV-94 than for the more Versatile XV-88 suit. No option may be chosen more than once, and no option may be twin-linked.

Weapons:
Burst Cannon: 8 Points
Flamer: 6 Points
Fusion Blaster: 12 Points
Iridium Alloy blade: 4 points

Support Systems:
Black sun filter: 3 points
Target lock: 5 points
Shield generator: 20 points

Iridium alloy blade:

These are long curved blades that appear similar to O'Shovah's famous dawn blade. Some eccentric XV-94 pilots carry these weapons and train with them, until the weapon and battle suit are an extension of their body. Any model carrying an Iridium blade gains +1 to its weapon skill, and has a heavy close combat weapon.

Options: One member of the Team may be upgraded to Team leader for +5 points. He then gets a free bonding knife and access to the armoury. For a further 5 points he may be upgraded to Shas'vre, using the improved statline. In addition he gains access to Special Issue Wargear. Please note that the Cyclic Ion Blaster and Airbursting Fragmentation Launcher may never be mounted on XV-94 battle suits.

I like this concept a lot. It's in-character, gives the Tau a good, but not great assault unit in a likely form; a battlesuit.

This is similar to an idea I had, that is very fast suits, though implemented completely differently. I'm only gonna make one criticism, as I'm not in the mood for judging fairness, the first letter in a battlesuits designation is for the suits size, so the if the 94 is smaller it should be called either the 70 summit or 60 summit depending on how much smaller it actually is.

Aye I wasn't really thinking ages ago when I first wrote the rules for these. I actually quite like this draft, but it needs some tweaking. When I get some time I'm going to re-do these and give them a more appropriate weight class and designation number (since currently a "4" stands for a Smart missile system variant!)
