What bothered me about the Gun Drones was that they weren't very effective except for pinning, but they were so damn cool! So, I decided to make my own ones.

Assault Drone: Costs: 50 points

Special Rules:
The assault drone follows normal gun drone rules, except it has no pulse carbines. Gun drones can only attack in close combat, where they swoop down and slice the opponent to bits with their razor sharp edges. To resemble this, assault drones have a 12" assault. Also, enemies cannot attack Assult Drones in close combat because they swoop down for a fraction of a second before rising again to the safety of the sky. Therefore, assault drones' close combat phases are unlike normal ones, but like shooting: they attack ONCE (actually 4 times, because they have four attacks) and the enemy CANNOT fight back unless they have pistols. After the gun drones attack once, their close combat phase is over and play resumes. On the enemies turn they may shoot at the assault drones, but not engage in close combat. On the player who owns the assault drones turn, the assault drones get one more attack, etc.

This is probably confusing, I'm sorry, please ask questions/constructive critisism! I have 2 other gun drone variations that I will post later, I'm a little busy now.

Dude tau don't assult with a pasion.
Give the drone wepons or something like that or make cheaper drones that can swarm the enamy.
Fluff wise drone should be cannon foder. Not shas'Els.

I do however respect that you have written those rules as they are pretty good, but it should be for another army.

You're right, but I think that they do need something inexpensive for that (other than Kroot)

I have also made stats for Heavy Gun Drones models A and B with Burst Cannons for A and rail rifles for B. I will include the stats later.

Gun Drones ARE cannon fodder, but they don't always have to be.

They do if you play fluff wise or, as i do charge with every souped up shooter you can and consolidate into termeis.

There's this one part in the book Fire Warrior where Kais sends a drone with a bomb on it into a room full of Space Marines. So, I guess you could argue that 'fluf wise', Drones can be used for more than just cannon fodder.

I'm sorry, did you say this was a drone? A tau drone? I thought it was a 'fex.
