In our beloved Tau Codex, the Devilfish is listed as "Options:...Gun Drones may be replaced by smart missile system at a cost of +20 pts." Now, does the Devilfish kit come with a SMS to replace the gun drones, or does one have to purchase the SMS separately? If I must purchase the SMS separately, where can I get it?

No it doesn't

The Devilfish kit only comes with the Basci Devilfish wargear of a Burst Cannon, and Gun Drones.

You can get the SMS parts, by buying the Hammerhead sprue seperatly, but ultimately, its cheaper to buy a Skyray kit (For numerous reasons)

Skeith is correct. Always buy the skyray kit forget the devilfish and hammerhead kits. Skyray comes with all the parts to make any of the tau vehicles. The skyray is £27 and the hammerhead is £27, but you can make a hammerhead out of the skyray box.
