Default Sculpting Hoods on IG Heads

Ever since i posted up my Imperial Guard Conversion poll, people (who shall remain nameless, but you know who they are) have been after me to post up how i created my Adeptus Mechanicus Hoods. And so, I shall post up how. Aren't I nice?

Step 1: Shave everything off the Cadian Head.

Step 2: Roll a thin snake of green stuff and run it around the base of the helmet. All the way around, that way you can create fabric at the back of the head for the hood. Spread the snake of green stuff so that it flows into the head. Stretch the green suff down on the face a little ways. The farther you spread, the farther the hood will stick out.

Step 3: Lift the stretched out green stuff straight up off the face. Lift it in various areas until you can get the look you desire. You can have it hide the face, pushed off to one side if the head is turned, or covering half. The possibilities are endless.

Step 4: Take a small ball of green stuff and put it on the back of the head near the very tuff. This will be our "tuff" of excess hoodie material that gathers. Again, smooth the ball down into a seamless look into the head, and keep a triangle tuff of green stuff poking out.

Step 5: Add final touches. You can add green stuff to the base of the hood if you wish, or add to the front. All it takes is a little practice. I scuplted that hood in 4 minutes; including mixing the green stuff.

Enjoy!

That was exactly how I thought you did it! Thanks, that's a real help. Now I can sculpt hoods that will look semi-uniform instead of all over the place in terms of quality.

You're just jealous that you didn't think of it :P

I kind of am too. And amazingly I've still yet to actually use this yet - need to get to word on that. Maybe my thumb will fully heal soon and I can use my hobby knife again.

But I should tell you that I had a unit of hooded Sisters before. Made in a similar way

Looks really good, I might do one or two for my guard to see how it goes!

Looking for Imperial Guard bits and bobs, UK prefered but anything else is workable.

What's with that long, random hair stuck to the back of his hood?

That doesn't mean anything, I've done it too. This way is just easier to do and more difficult to mess up.

Indeed, what's with the hair? I believe it's mine...perhaps it's all this stress to produce tutorials!

i say you should combine the hood with a cloak, makes it look better

that would be pretty sweet on a commander or commisar, someone who is supposed to look sinister
