Ask them how a little plastic man can harbor ill-will towards someone.

Exactly. But I can't believe their making you do this. Do they actually read the fluff or something? Maybe it's just the fact that it's "violent!" Which in turn, is also stupid. If you play any shooter-games on the computer or other, I guarantee that that is more violent. There is no actual frightening, gory, violence, etc. in a game of 40k.

Point to the Tau, they are not evil. But seriously how do your parents even know whether they are good or evil and why do they care if the races are mostly evil?

And why exactly are your parents objecting anyway? Are they very religious, very strict, very easliy led by the media, or none of the above?

Tell them that the alternative is falling in with the wrong crowd and doing all sorts of evil illegal things with them instead.

Failing that try telling them that it isn't just a hobby, its a social event and to stop you playing would stop you seeing friends you've made at gaming venues. You could also try telling them that to stop doing things that are evil you might need to live in a sensory deprevation tank

tell them that it stops you spending all you money (and thiers ;D) on drugs and alchohol. drowning away your pityful life which would be worthless without a hobby...

to begin with, what is their argument? what do they say to you? what are their reasons for trying to make you stop?

tell me this, and i'll formulate a battle plan.

And there is always the old fashioned "dagger and dig a grave at night"......

Yeow. If only such things were so simply done.

Perhaps their worry comes from the fact that they don't understand the game. That is a problem that can be solved by explaing the simpler rules, or by having them come with you to observe a game session.

If it is a matter of religion or strict beliefs, I'm not sure what could sway them to reconsider. Ask them what you should do in the stead of playing this hobby game?

Meeting new people, sharing new experiences, and staying out of real trouble are only a few possibilities of the hobby. There *are* many worse things to be doing, and this game (while expensive) is certainly not a bad choice!

Just stay away from the fluff-stories of the game. Those just tend to be dark and gloomy and depressing....
