I a recent game, CSM vs. SM, a squad of Khorne bezerkers was engaged in assault with, a command squad. The Khorne champion, and three bezerkers were in base contact with the leader, three wounds were inflicted, and my opponent decided to inflict the wound to sing wound characters that were not in base contact, let alone one inch away from my bezerkers. My question is, is this legal? Can you allocate wounds to other squad members even if they are not engaged in assault?

For each of his models, your opponent picks a UNIT with at least one model in b2b contact with his model. YOU pick which models in your unit take the wounds, removing models ASAP.

Characters count as separate units in combat.
