Default *NOOB QUESTION* I feel like an idiot, but...

Ok, I had a squad of a bout 10 Dark Eldar Warriors in CC with a Chaplain. He scored more wound so he won the fight. I fell back 4" (crappy D6 roll, I know) and his chappy rolled 9, overtaking me and wiping me out.

Now my question is; was this correct? It just seems unlikely that he could take them all out, or was it a case of just a lot of crappy dice rolls?

*Puts on anti-flame suit*

Thanks for the help in advance.

That is incorrect. The third edition rules are where you compare fallback distance to a 2d6 sweeping advance roll. In fourth edition, you compare your initiative + a roll of d6. If the opponent's total is equal or higher, you are caught and die. Yes; the whole unit.

Dire strike is correct. As stupid as this is, One guy can chase down a 30+ man squad if he scores more than the enemy does. And I have seen this rule work stupidly. One eldar ranger once chased down 30 Mutants also 4 fire warriors chased down 10 genestealers :P

A similar system applies in 4th ed, but ends up more a case of locking your opponent in rather than chasing after them and running them down.
