Default The Cheese Compendium

Every 40k gamer should beware the common cheese-monger and his tools. The sad fact in the world of 40k is that every army can be made ‘beardy/cheesy’ – so here are several lists for each race that you can find in your local fromargerie!

WARNING: I claim no responsibility if in using these lists

--You get chucked out of your gaming group
--You loose all of your friends
--You are insulted/ridiculed and never played at 40k again
--You get branded with a cheese iron

(these lists are also not intended to offend anyone, and are in no means official or definitive)

Now, lets get down to business –

Chaos Space Marines -

Iron Warriors - Probably the most common powergamer will be equipped with his Iron Warriors…so here is the Heavy Weapons list of doom…

HQ – 186

Chaos Lord, Daemon Armour, Daemonic Stature, Daemonic Aura, Daemonic Essence, Dreadaxe+CCW, Daemonic Mutation, Spiky Bits, Daemonic Strength – 186

A nice tooled Lord to hang around with the Obliterators and protect them from combat, a Lord this powerful in 1500pts may raise an eyebrow anyway!

ELITES – 490

3 Obliterators - 210
2 Obliterators - 140
2 Obliterators – 140

7 Obliterators? That’s basically 7 heavy weapons of your choice (or 7 powerfists) on these 2 wound, T5 and incunerable save beasts. Boot that!

TROOPS – 230

5 Chaos Space Marines, Tank Hunters, Lascannon and Plasma Gun - 115
5 Chaos Space Marines, Tank Hunters, Lascannon and Plasma Gun – 115

Typically cheesy – taking the bare minimum of troops, but upgrading them fully (min-maxing) with heavy and special weapons.

HEAVY SUPPORT – 607

Basalisk, Indirect Fire – 125
Basalisk, Indirect Fire – 125
Predator, 3 Lascannons, Mutated Hull – 175
5 Havocs, Tank Hunters, 4 Auto Cannons – 182

We have two ordnance barrage guns which cannot even be targeted, a Front Armour 14 Predator with 3 Lascannons, and also 4 Autocannons to step up the anti-troop capabilities of the army…

TOTAL – 1496

Weaponry Summary – 5 x Lascannons, 4 x Autocannons, 2 x Plasma Guns, 7 x (Lascannon, Autocannon, Missile Launcher, Heavy Bolter, Melta Gun, Plasma Gun, Power Fist), 8 Bolters and 2 x Earthshaker Cannons.

Tyranids –

Monstrous Creature List – As soon as I heard Fexes could be taken as Elites I shuddered, one of the latest additions into the cheese shop we have the list with the 8 Monstrous Creatures!

HQ – 364

Flying Tyrant, Adrenal Glands, Impant Attack, Toxin Sacks, Winged, 2xScything Talons, Warp Field – 209
Walking Tyrant, Extended Carapace, Enhcanced Senses, Lash Whip, Bonesword, Venom Cannon - 155

ELITES – 339

Carnifex, Crushing Claws, Rending Claws – 113
Carnifex, Adrenal Glands, Acid Maw, 2xScything Talons – 113
Carnifex, Spine Banks, Tail Weapon – Mace, Twin Linked Devourers, Scything Talons – 113

TROOPS – 90

3 Ripper Swarms, Extended Carapace, Leaping – 45
3 Ripper Swarms, Extended Carapace, Leaping – 45

As noted before, the hall mark of a cheesy army – the bare minimum in cheap troops

HEAVY SUPPORT – 697

Carnifex, Enhanced Senses, Venom Cannon, Twin-linked deathspitters – 143
Carnifex, Enhanced Senses, Extended Carapace, Adrenal Glands, Adrenal Glands, Bonded Exoskeleton, Spine Banks, Tail Weapon – Scythe, tusked, toxin sacks, reinforced chitin, barbed strangler, crushing claws – 244
Carnifex, Bio-Plasma, Enhanced Senses, Extended Carapace, Adrenal Glands, Adrenal Glands, Bonded Exoskeleton, Thornback, Tail Weapon – Scythe, tusked, toxin sacks, reinforced chitin, implant attacks, regenerate, venom cannon, crushing claws – 310

TOTAL – 1490

This list is renowned for the list on the opponents face as he loads out Monstrous Creature after Monstrous Creature from his case…

Eldar –

Saim Hann flying circus of cheese – What is better than 3 starcannon shots? 30 Starcannon shots!

HQ – 180

Farseer on Jetbike, Mind War, – 100
Avatar – 80

TROOPS – 1140

3 Vypers, Starcannons – 195
3 Vypers, Starcannons - 195
3 Vypers, Starcannons – 195
3 Vypers, Bright Lances – 195
3 Vypers, Bright Lances - 195
3 Vypers, Scatter Lasers – 165

“But I have 6 maximised troop choices? How is that powergaming?” 19 Vehicles, 11 Starcannons, 6 Bright Lances and 3 Scatter Lasers…that’s how!

HEAVY SUPPORT – 190

Falcon, Star Cannon, Spirit Stone, Holofields - 190

TOTAL – 1510

So we have 19 Vehicles, all of them skimmers which can only be glanced when they are going…however the reason why this army usually stays in the cheese box and away from the battlefield? It will set you back £262!

Ulthwe’s best effort at fromage –

HQ – 625

Seer Council
Farseer. fortune. runes of witnessing. ghost helm. singing spear.
Farseer. Mindwar. singing spear.
warlock. enhance. witch blade. pistol.
warlock. embolden. witch blade. pistol.
warlock. conceal. pistol. wich blade.
8x warlock. pistol. wich blade.
5x warlock
545

Avatar – 80

When the Avatar joins the seer council is there nothing that they cannot do?!

TROOPS - 450

5(7) Black guardians, Starcannon - 90
5(7) Black guardians, Starcannon - 90
5(7) guardians, Starcannon - 90
5(7) guardians, Starcannon - 90

Vyper, Starcannon - 65

HEAVY SUPPORT - 360

Wrathlord, brightlance - 120
Wrathlord, brightlance - 120
Wrathlord, brightlance - 120

And the old beardy trick of three Wraithlords just has to come up in most typically cheesy Eldar lists, this is no exception.

TOTAL - 1500

Iyaden – Wraithlords as troops? Enough said! Iyaden armies are virtually all rather beardy to be honest, and not really widely played. However lets see just how many Wraithlords and Wraithgaurd will fit on the cheese isle…

HQ – 98

Farseer, Runes of Witnessing, Singing Spear, Mind War, Fortune - 98

TROOPS – 1413

5 Wraithgaurd, Warlock with Conceal, CCW and SP, Wave Serpent with Spirit Stone, Twin Linked Bright Lances - 351
5 Wraithgaurd, Warlock with Conceal, CCW and SP, Wave Serpent with Spirit Stone, Twin Linked Bright Lances - 351
5 Wraithgaurd, Warlock with Conceal, CCW and SP, Wave Serpent with Sprit Stone, Twin Linked Star Cannons - 351
Wraithlord with Star Cannon - 120
Wraithlord with Star Cannon - 120
Wraithlord with Star Cannon - 120

Terrible min maxing here, minimum sized Wraithgaurd squads just to get the 3 Wraithlords and the 3 Wave Serpents…

TOTAL - 1511

Alitoch – This time we are abusing special craftworld rules – the ranger disruption table. After this army has rolled on the ranger disruption table almost everything should’ve been either pinned/put in reserve or shot…

HQ – 40

Farseer – 40

ELITES – 240

3 Pathfinders - 72
3 Pathfinders - 72
4 Pathfinders - 96

3 Rangers – 57
3 Rangers – 57
3 Rangers – 57
3 Rangers – 57
3 Rangers – 57
3 Rangers – 57
3 Rangers – 57

You can smell this before you enter the shop….and boy does it just stink, this is Alitoch Abuse to the full, someone call the police!

FAST ATTACK – 455

3 Vypers with Bright Lances - 195
3 Vypers with Star Cannons - 195
Vyper with Star Cannon - 65

HEAVY SUPPORT – 360

Wraithlord with Star Cannon - 120
Wraithlord with Star Cannon – 120
Wraithlord with Bright Lance – 120

Oh yes and we had to just end with packing the remaining points full of juicy Wraithlords and vypers with cheap weapons didn’t we! Otherwise it just wouldn’t be eldar!

TOTAL - 1494

Dark Eldar –

Another flying circus of heavy weapons, it is hard to power game with Dark Eldar, but this is about as close as it gets with 20 Dark Lances, 9 Disintegrators and 4 Blasters.

HQ – 60

Dracon

Just to make things legal!

ELITES – 390

8 Wyches, 2 Blasters, Succubus, Agoniser, Raider with Dark Lance - 195
8 Wyches, 2 Blasters, Succubus, Agoniser, Raider with Dark Lance - 195

TROOPS – 690

5 Warriors, 2 x Dark Lance, Raider with Dark Lance - 115

HEAVY SUPPORT – 360

Ravager with 3 Disintegrators - 120
Ravager with 3 Disintegrators - 120
Ravager with 3 Disintegrators – 120

TOTAL - 1500

Once this force gets flying around it is nigh on unstoppable with just glancing hits available to the skimmers, although fragile the punch it packs is incredible.

3 x Land-Speeder Tornado’s, Assault Cannon – 240

HEAVY SUPPORT – 265

Land-raider Crusader – 265

TOTAL – 1500

48 Assault Cannon Shots per turn, at least 8 models killed out right just after hitting per turn! This army’s weapons does unspeakable things to hordes and armour alike, I hope you brought your anit-tank with you…

What? Where? From the air? – everything in this list either comes in via deep strike or drop pods.

Advantages: No mercy, No respite + Take the fight to them. Disadvantages: Flesh over steel

Note how you can easily choose a disadvantage that won’t affect your list at all, therefore you are getting free benefits…now if that isn’t cheesy…

HQ – 180

Epistolary, Fear of the Darkness, Veil of Time, Jump Pack – 180

Fear of the Darkness? Essential for all Space Marine armies who come from the air, one of the most broken units in the game for those who have to face it!

Three Monoliths says it all really, and no doubt those 20 warriors will be hiding away so no-one can actually get at them to phase this army out. There is no secret that the army relies solely on the three Monoliths…but destroying them is a different issue.

You can count the Lascannons yourself…alternatively the Lascannons can be exchanged for anti –troop weapons if the cheese monger at hand knows that he is facing a horde army for example.

This has to be a very annoying army to play, 9 seeker missiles, 7 armoured skimmer hulls and some heavy weaponry. The pathfinders lay down their markerlights and the vehicles run to where they cannot be seen, cowardly and cheesy.
