Default Collective writers effort.

In a first for Tau Online, those of us with a more literary frame of mind have been offered the chance to work together to create a story based upon the adventures of an Inquisitor in 40K.
For this, we need some ideas.
Thats where everyone else comes in.
We want your best ideas for an adventure, the best of which will be melded into the story. See your ideas immortalised.

Get posting!

Well there is always the bog-standard 'stop the cult summoning the daemon prince' story.
Or it could be a hunt for a heretic in a hive.

An unusual twist could be put in where the forces of Chaos appear to be trying to keep a warp hole from getting LARGER, not smaller or disappearing altogether. Why would Chaos NOT want a Warp Portal? What could possibly motivate them to want to prevent something they usually strive for? How would a group like the Grey Knights react to an event like this? Would some of see that something is different THIS time around? Would those Grey Knights that realize that making this Portal larger in this place at this time will close off a dozen other portals in more stratigic locations in the galaxy (maybe even prevent one openning up on holy Terra)? Would some of their compatriots believe that any Grey Knight wanting to make a Portal bigger is obviously "touched" by Chaos? How would an Inquistor react? Maybe you could have several Inquistors with a nasty split amoung them. There are several types (or groups) of Inquisitors with different outlooks as how to best deal with things. High-lite these differances.

Oh boy, you folks can have fun with this one.

Best,

I like the whole Warp-hole thing, could be a lot of fun.
Okay, so we have a warp hole somewhere, which is expanding due to the pressure of denizens of the warp, which is sealing off other gates, better confine the area affected to one system.

Okay, so now comes my part as the devils advocate.
Why are there all those other holes that they want to keep open?
Why don't Chaos want or need this one?
How could the Inquisition find out what is happening?
How could they prevent it?
Why would they prevent it?

Anyone?

Thanks for the help IVEATCH.

The great thing about writting about Chaos is that it is - Chaotic! The powers of the warp don't exactly get along very well until someone like Abbandon unites them. Different Chaos powers might want breaches into the Imperium to be near ancient sites that one Choas power or another convenants. Other powers may want to stop them (Khorne will be *@#*!! if he lets those panzie Thousand Sons get their holy rune cubes). Play up the Chaos divisions, both plausible and easy to do.

The Chaos powers may not want this openning gate so much because it transfers the energy from opening a new and more important gate(s) somewhere else. Why build a 500 room hotel in Pedmount Illinois when you can spend the money on one in downtown Paris instead? Since Chaos space is Chaotic, it could be a special set of currents in the Warp that have set this up.

Usually what happens when it comes to informing the good guys about an impending villainous plot is there is some small and generally unimportant character that sees far more then they should. Of course no one believes that little William just saw what he saw. You could have a minor scribe/mendicanto witness something. Another posibility is visions, either during sleep or awake.
One could really play off of the Inquisitions paranoia on this. Are the visions real or a sign of Daemonic possession? Also a factor to play up are the divisions amoung the Inquisition itself. One side believes, the other doubts.

Preventing it - or in this case allowing it (the warp breach) to happen. This is going to take some work. If they allow the hole to open is there any way to seal or contain this once it happens? If there is it will have to be something that can only be used once under some very special conditions. This is important least we have given the Imperium a way to close/contain all holes to the warp
and that will pretty much eliminate all Choas players from 40K (NEVER kill a good villain)!

And as to the WHYs, this will be an important center point of the story. There will be those who look at ANY warp hole opening as a major defeat. Someone is going to have to look at the BIG picture. This conflict will be very important to the course of the story.

Just some thoughts.

Best Regards Hunter,

So let's see, I've got the ball.
The inquisitors of the Ordos Malleus will have to find out that the gate is being closed, some poor savant is going to have to die for that. This will lead to them trying to prevent the closure, trying to pull the denizens of the warp through it to keep it open. This will lead to a whole lot of Grey Knight action as they gun down every thing that steps through while the Inquisitors do their thing. Possibly some losses, contamination of the area by demons, but it only has to be kept open for a limited time.
Semi-bad guys, some very monodominant Ordo herticus find out what is going on, possibly at about the time that the shooting starts, and barrel in to try and shut the gate. This may lead to a few short, terse and above all lead filled conversations between the two factions, Hereticus trying to stop the ritual so the gate can shut, whilst the radical Malleus try to keep it open.

Two things could happen here.
The Malleus could win, or the Hereticus could win.
I'm going to have to go for the option of the hereticus winning, this will close the gate, and get all sorts of nasty beasties coming through from the warp somewhere else.
This will cause a sudden shift in who the bad guys are, Chaos or the poor deluded Hereticus.
Next part will have to involve some serious demon smiting to make up for lost time, and possibly closure of the brand new gate. The Imperium might win on this one, with both the potential gate and the current gate closed, or maybe not.

Makes a damn good idea for an Inquisitor/40K campaign though!

Question. where does my Ork mekboy come into this? if it is decided that he dunt fit, i can design sumone else. although they wouldn't be nearly as cool. cuz they would have to be based on a stereotype. and therefore would be boring.
