Default tabletop 40k......online

as mentioned in another thread, a tabletop style PC game would be great. so you could move soem IG and tell them to shoot and have it all animated etc, what are your thoughts on this?

(and no, do not mention DoW because im not talking about that)

I think if they used DoW graphics and did randomized dice rolls ect. it would be great

Yeah, but Final Liberation was stupid (to be honest, though, I'm only saying that because I always lost...)

Ever heard of Chaos Gate?

It was turn based, and you could tell each individual guys where to go, who to shoot, etc.

Before the battle, you got to select the squads to use (each marine has different stats), equip each guy with the wargear and weapons you want, and start playing

Each guy (you were SM, always, and you were against Chaos) had a certain amount of action points, which he could use to move, shoot, duck, go on overwatch, throw a grenade, pick up an item, use a scanner, etc.

It was (well, still is I suppose) a pretty cool game

Yeah.....well...
Actually, I only played Final Lib twice, and wasnt particularly impressed, so I never played again.

The best part about Chaos Gate was the bit before the battle where you could customise your marines.
The gameplay was just plain slow- although, what can you expect from a turn-based game?

AfterCresent, please stop spamming. You know full well that this isn't the place for that and you have already posted in the TOC board anyway about it IIRC.

There are quite a lot of turn based strategy games, I would still play the table top game as its not the same playing a computer game as it is collecting an army. Computer games allow you to expand it so that it isn't turn based, there isn't much point in a turn based 40K game as we already have it on the table.

That is a reason I don't think GW will ever make one, as it could just stop many people from buying the models etc.

What i Suggested was it is just like the table top game except it is on the screen. You have to get a scanner to scan the bar code on the box so you are still buying and then you have the battles online against other players.
