Default When to tank-shock?

Honestly, me and my friends rarely use tank shock. After all, all that happens is a unit has to move a few inches out of the way, allowing them to shoot the crap out of your vehicle next turn if they have heavy weapons.

I was wondering where and how it might be useful. Help would be appreciated.

Well for those of you that don't have skimmers (ha), and say you're playing a breach mission (Get to your enemies deployment) Say its turn 5 and the only way to get there is to get your rhino in and unload your squad for more points, However there is an enemy squad blocking the way, Declare a tank shock. (but if its turn 5, hopefully your enemy doesn't know about death or glory). Death or glory I'm not to sure about I just know that you have one man who gets an auto-hit and it all goes sketchy from there...little help guys?

It depends on what you're tank shocking with. A tank with the destroyer gift of Khorne is devastating, while other things still have their uses.

Never, ever Tank Shock with anything more valuable then a Rhino.* It's not worth the risk of it being destroyed.

Being able to force the enemy to flee off the board (always amusing) is very handly. It's also good to mess up an enemy's plans when you force his units to fall back from rampaging tanks.

It's always a good idea to judge who to tank shock though - low leadership units with nothing to harm your tanks with are the best, in my opinion. Having dozens of enemies fleeing from your lowly Rhino is a great feeling, especially if you catch several squads with it

Alright, thanks.

But why would it be so helpful to send a squad back a few inches? If their ld is high enough, they'll just rally next turn and often shoot or assault your vehicle to pieces.

Keeping the enemy at arm's length is often a very good thing - lets you shoot them more, and makes them move farther to assault you. If they fall back, they also need to regroup before being able to fire effectively again - even a regroup counts as moving.

I forgot about that. 'Escorting' enemy units off the broad is very mean though...do it as much as possible!
