Default Plasma Guns/Rifles/Cannons etc.

I tried searching for my question but found no fruit.

We all know, hopefully, that the imperial counter-parts of plasma weapons that if you roll a 1 it gets hot. (or a 2 if you rapid fire the rifle) Now since the strength of all the plasma is 7 with an armor piercing of 2 when it 'gets hot' and blows up why does it allow the shooter get an armor save? Does it say the weapon blows up and should be like hitting theirselves with the gun?

Hi

The rule is called "Gets hot" not "Explodes in a hellish ball of flame" ;D

The Plasma weapon just tries to cook the wielder and if he is lucky enough to pass his armor save then he can use it again later.

In the old fluff it siad that the get's hot was a result of the gun venting steam form it's cooling system, not a backlash of plasma. Good question though.

Yay it would be much more fun and tricky using the plasma weapons then. Then people (marines) would actually have to think before using them.

Now another question do 2 fists count as 2 close combat weapon. Say his plasma cannon blew up but he (of course) made his save now if he was charged would he get to have 2 base attacks? Since i would say 2 marine fists are a pretty deadly close combat weapon in theirselves

The second power weapon would count as an extra ccw weapon rules wise. there is no advantage for having two powerfists really. At least, not anymore. I seem to rember hearing that in second edition it had some effect but not anymore.

No no no no you misunderstood me. I meant just regular fists(gloved hands) not powerfists.

But the question doesnt matter anymore as i read the rulebook and found the answer.

Yea that would be cool if plasma came to him i remember seeing on the Gw website people had modeled a guy hit by a plasma blast it looked so cool

I hope that answer you found was "no", because you need to be using something like a Chainsword or larger to count as a close-combat weapon with Marines.

Not if he only has 1

Plasma weapons getting hot are just that, they get hot as a result of the cooling system not working properly, not because the gun explodes. Which is why you can carry on using it after it's 'exploded'.
