Default Guess Weaponry Help!

I play Tau and the Airbursting Fragmentation Projecter is a G18" range. I'm relatively new to the game, and some have explained to me two different ways at local gaming stores. I just dont see anything about any G*XRange* weapons in the 5th Ed. Warhammer 40k Rule book. It may be the Tau Codex is older than the new update but I still confused. There is no errata on GW site (or I didnt look clearly enough) and I tried searching on these boards for answers. I'm just looking for some explanation or pg. number in 40k Rulebook (I have no fluff-small version)
Thanks

G weapons are also known as Barrage weapons. Just use their rules.

All it is you say, "I bet this is in range" and place the template, and then you measure the distance, if you are within range, good! You can fire then, if not, you cannot fire.

So no difference in using scatter die? The one explanation was you dont adjust for BS like other blast templates

No difference, unless you fire indirectly. Guess range weapons allow you to fire indirectly, if you do that you'll scatter the full 2d6, you may still fire directly, but you still follow the rules.

Yeah G weapons are known as "Guess Weapons" you guessed a distance and placed the template that distance towards your target, if it hit something regardless or it being your intended target, another model (yours or your enemy) or even some terrain you proceeded based on that.

So G weapons we're a way to kill your own troops or even shoot into an assault if you had an enemy model behind the assault.

That's all prior to 5th though, in 5th G=Barrage.

Also regarding the BS rule, you only lose BS on the scatter role if you are firing without LOS to your target, if you have LOS you still get your BS.
