What do you transport your army in? To me this is extremely importent because everyone I konw who plays warhammer40k lives at least 15-30 min away from my house and i dont want my army breaking on me.

A Carry Case.

Basically you have several options:

1. You could leave them floating around in a box which is kind of not very sensible (especially with flying stands)

2. You could wrap up some of the more fragile models in bubblewrap then place them in a box (say from a battleforce?) that way the vast majority of the models are still easy to unpack and would probably not get damaged while the fragile ones are safe and secure.

3. You could use some form of case (you may find one or two loitering in a closet) and then put sheets of foam in that, and sandwich your models between layers, that way they are secure, cannot rattle and are very unlikely to brake.

I would recommend option 3.

I would recommend option 3.

me too. anything worse, you can break on average one model per journey.However, in the GW carry case, its a bit tedious to have to take out layer after layer of foam to get to a particular model.

My relatives occasionally have had trouble deciding what to get me for various birthdays, Christmases, etc. They know of my interest in the hobby, but little more than that. I guess the official GW carry case always looked like a good, safe deal, despite its cost. So I now have four of them, go figure.

I use the big gw cases for my infantry and I have a devilfish box that I toss my tanks and battlesuits in.

sadly, since i don't feel like coughing the 40$, I use a shoe box or cigar box and I am extra careful about it.

I managed to get myslf a nice Aluminium attache case, complete with a foam insert that is already partially pre-cut so you can just pull out the shapes you want. Great for transporting and not to costly either.
Or I use a Falcon box for my Eldar (but need tyo change that) or an old, battered foam lined briefcase for my nids.

One of the guys who plays with us mounted strong magnets on each and every one of his bases. All he needs to carry them is a box with a metal sheet on one side. The models are held fixed, so he doesn't even need much padding.
