Default Advice on getting new GW models/boxed sets.etc

Many people including myself whilst saying that GW do, do some good models/miniatures have some very high prices. Now I am coming back into at least the collecting/painting side of 40k again and spent a long time deciding what I race I wanted to play, looked around the local GW store and was like okay thats pricey...

I suspect many people have said this before, shop around, look for alternative places, because many of those don't sell at GW prices. And you can get from 10-25% off the GW R.R.P. Thats a very large saving... try your local smaller stockists or the online retailers.

examples being:
www.WarGameStore.com
www.SciFiGenre.com

You can also find some great deals with the online stores on places like ebay, which again, order buisness rates from GW and then sell online, and for a bit less than GW, just check how much the shipping is before buying that bargain.

If you know of more post them up and share them, as we all know it wont make much of a dent to GW, after all they make a massive profit from guillable parents these days.

Crikey! This crazy clown causes commotion like the coming of Christ. Contained in a circle corrupted by crackheads and carnal cravings, he creates no concession to callous cheaters concentrating on nought but cock. Certainly, still a curious and cordial cavalier in the countenance of crazed cads, curs and creeps who condemn courtesy as something corny. No cloud could collapse his crushing crescendo of comical crowing and crimson coiffure. This conjecture on culture comes circumlocutive, consequently...

You may call me Circus.

seriously, most parents 180 at the sight of these prices. Hell any mall type enviornment suffers because every freaking vender is hounding them for a "trial", a new phone, or a moment of their time. Parents ask how much this stuff is, usually.

kids are prone to ADD with the amount of toys around, I think parents have caught on.

I usually get my stuff from Maelstrom games, or if its a small purchase, the local GW.

Compared to other miniature company's Games Workshops pricing is relatively normal.
In the world of miniatures you usually get what you pay for, at the cheap end you have low quality mass produced stuff (world of warcraft miniatures, new Rackham ppp figures), In the middle you have companys such as GW, Reaper and Privateer Press to name just a few, and at the expensive very high quality end you have company's such as Pegaso and Andrea.

Most people don't get that miniatures aren't exactly cheap to make, and GW isn't the big money hungry world-dominating corporation that some people would make it out to be.

Might have a bit off topic there .

Okay ill admit it that they arnt all that bad, but there are some out there.

And yeah its true a lot of the miniatures ranges are expensive, but some always seem more so than others, my general point here was just to give people the reminder that its always good to look around, and that they can get brand new boxed sets for less than they can get in brand stores.

The other one i forgot to mention is it seems that GW have cut down on there bits range, at least here in the uk, after taking a look through the latest bits pdf download, so if your after bits, might be worth either searching for bits provider sellers, or searching ebay or specialist trade/swap sites. Or raiding your mates bits box

And Lex, wasn't saying that GW is a money hungry worlf-dominating corporation - but they do have thier moments like all people in buisness... I appreciate at the end of the day... A company is in it to make money, its simple business.

I purchase my stuff from an independent shop, fun people, plus they have a points card, dont remember how exactly it works but you can get a decent discout if you have enough points, and you get a point for every dollar you spend.

same here with the points card, i just posted this somewhere else though, but its good advice.
GW gets money off the item if its bought from them or from a retailer, they have to sell the item to either so i buy from the retailer or my local store whenever i can. buying the item at all is sporting GW.

The only thing is if you don;t support the GW store and they may end up shut down due to lack of sales. Also if you go to GW stores and play games their, paint or model their then you really should throw some of your money towards them.

By all means, every now and then adds up for them. I did so, so the one game shop I knew to play in would still be around. Either way vender or not, GW gets some action through wholesale or otherwise. But it means more with the extra few bucks.
