Default mathhammer, am i doing this right?

i just want to make shure i am doing this right, because me adn my friend think these numbers are a bit off. (using tau vs. marine)

probability of hitting (with bs3 is 4+) so 1/2 shots hit. then to wound, str5 wpn vs. T4 (3+) so 4/6 wound, now my question comes up, do i multiply 1/2 by 4/6? giving me 1/3 of my shots wounding marines

Here's an easyer way of doing it.

10 shots.
5 hits.
3 wounds.

Yes.

Let's stay in 1/6 notation. Mathhammer is generally done "per squad" rather than "per man", but the math is the same.

A Firewarrior has a 3/6 chance of hitting a Marine. He has a 4/6 chance of wounding him, and a 2/6 chance said Marine will fail his save. 3/6 * 4/6 * 2/6 = 24/216, or 1/9.

In other words, it takes 9 Firewarrior shots to kill one Marine, according to statistics.

To prove it, 9 Firewarriors:
4 1/2 sould hit. (9 * 1/2).
3 should wound. (4.5 * 2/3, or if you prefer, "4.5 / 3 * 2")
1 should fail an armour save (3 * 1/3 = 3/3 = 1)
