Default A few tricks with blast wepaons

First of all blast weapons are usually good at killing close together enemies. here is a simple trick with blast weapons that can be used. After the enemy disembarks form transports they die to blasts easily. Another thing that they are vulnerable is after deep striking if they did not run.
A way to truly take advantage of this is to first kill a transport then hit them with the blast weapons once they get out can be devastating especially when using plasma cannons. However when this situation occurs to you try to stay out of the way of blast weapons.
With the deepstriking be sure to run when you deepstrike a unit but if you do that you cannot shoot so if you deepstrike a shooty units When deepstriking do not do it front of a devastator squad with 4 plasma cannons its not a smart idea.

Indeed. If you can get a good battle cannon shot (or something along those lines) off on a rhino, it's quite possible to cover a large portion of the squad that just disembarked as well. And who doesn't like killing two things for the price of one?

The thing is when I was chaos on vassal today I tried this on a tactical squad that just disembarked from a rhino with plasma cannons and I would have killed at least 4 marines form this plasma cannon and like 2 more from the other.

Who gonna believe me...?

This morning... Yes this morning at 9:00AM (France).. A necron lord, with 12 necrons warriors deep striked just 8' from my librarian... And so.. I unleashed a Vortex... And rolled a 12... But rolled a "1" to wound.(when it came back on my librarian).. Finally, it was the Terminators, who killed the Necrons in HtH assault... But this is (part of) why I love this game... I could have kill'em all in one vortex... but no...

But I've got a question, is the fact that the vortex is coming back on the one who launch it sufficient, or does the librarians must take a wound ? (the rules are not clear about that, and , because of the "1" rolled, I was "happy" to take the wound... But, in taht case was it necessary?

sarddock that sounds like bad luck. Well at least you were trying good tactics out. Yes see that was a huge risk that necron player was taking. You should avoid being on the receiving end of that.
