imperial date

I've been trying to figure out how the imperial calender system works. Up in the right corner it says today is 0643008.M3

I get the M3, third millenium
the 008 i get, 8th year in the 3rd M

but the 0643 got me stumped. Aug 22 is not the 64th day of the year, nor the 43 and for sure not the 643 day of the 3rd M.

So whats the deal?

Re: imperial date

In the Imperial dating system, the year is broken up into 1000 equal parts. That is, .365 days (on a normal year), or 8 hours, 45 minutes, and 36 seconds (perhaps less precise).

So 0643 indicates that it is about 3/4 of the way through the 234th day of the year, or more simply, the 22nd day of August.

This is all explained in both the third and fifth edition rulebooks, though I'm not so sure about the fourth. Furthermore, there is likely to have been many topics about this; I suggest you search harder.

oh. thanks. You know, i'd have done better if they would have just gone in base 60. silly base 10! or 1000, whatever!

Thank you!
