Default Go to a National 40K Tournament as a Participant or an Official?

So, there might be a National Tournament this December and I was given a chance to be one of the officials and at the same time, I got the points and the models as well as the time to practice and paint my army.

So, what will you do in my situation?

What benefits do officials get, and could you be an official in one category and a competitor in another?

No, we can't participate in the tournament if we become Officials. Hmm.....benefits.....I guessed I'll be in the Inner Circle of my 40K Club and become one of the Veteran Club Members

Honestly, I believe you should think about the benefits of being in the tournament as opposed to being an official. What benefits of experience do you gain as an official? The veteran club member and the Inner Circle do sound like pretty good benefits from what I've heard you say of them.

However on the flip side, what advantages do you get from participating in the tournament? Meet new people, learn how to counter strategies with your force and etc. Personally, I'd be more inclined to simply participate in the tournament, but whatever floats your boat.

As an Official, I love to organize this kind of stuff; events etc etc etc. I get some experience as well from organizing this kind of events. And I consider myself a fairly fair person (LOL :P) so Official might be called in to solved a dispute like why Piranha or a Trukk can't ram :P

As a Participant, I might meet the best and the worse but I'm expecting more of the worse since this is Malaysia Anyway, I'm still inexperience and by that time, I only garnered about 5 months of experience playing 40K and I would like to start small and gain a fair more experience before I actually join a big tournament like this.

So, I think I'll just go with Official :P Thanks for the input, guys
