Default Polar opposites

I've just had a idle thought: What's the polar opposite of Imperial Guard? My thoughts were Space Marine, Chaos Space Marine, Tau.....

So, just want to ask you guys your opinion?

I'd say chaos marines as both DE and IG don't focus on heavy armour

IG not focusing on heavy armor, I would agree with you but you forgot about are tanks :P

Grey knights, they really on pressicion heavy weapons that need to be taken care of and presicion strikes that would cause the most pain and have the ability to blow up a whole world if a inquisitor is with them. Guard dont have any of that, all their weapons require little cleaning, they are more viewed as a hammer that will smash the foe relentlessy than a scalpel.

IG? Doesn't focus on heavy armor?

What about the Baneblade, and the three other super-heavies? The Leman Russ, Leman Russ Demolisher, Leman Russ Executioner, Leman Russ Exterminator, Leman Russ Conquerer, the Macharius... etc.

I see your point,

I guess IG don't have a polar opposite as it would seem they don't have a particular specialisation

Course they do. Huge amounts of firepower with little precision.

Hence they find an opposite in Dark Eldar, who are incredibly precise and are all about pressure to a point.

However, I wouldn't go in for the notion that every army has a polar opposite.

Crikey! This crazy clown causes commotion like the coming of Christ. Contained in a circle corrupted by crackheads and carnal cravings, he creates no concession to callous cheaters concentrating on nought but cock. Certainly, still a curious and cordial cavalier in the countenance of crazed cads, curs and creeps who condemn courtesy as something corny. No cloud could collapse his crushing crescendo of comical crowing and crimson coiffure. This conjecture on culture comes circumlocutive, consequently...

You may call me Circus.

I agree as after all every army can choose a number of things to focus on, so you could have two of the same "army" that are completely different

You've never played with or against Drop Troop Guard. They need arguably as much pricision as the Dark Eldar. Not in the same terms though.
Exactly, every army is very customisable so really none can have polar opposites
