Default Why are your army lists written the way they are?

Just was curious about the reasons why your army lists are written the way you wrote them. I write lists to save money so the army can hit the table sooner.

Shoot, tanks (what else?), and bigger tanks (obviously).

Cost, Strength, and playability. Of course, all those will take a hit when Fifth kills Tau.

I start with whatever I already own, regardless of what's effective or not. If I have a model, I find a way to use it. Waste not, want not. After that comes tactical effectiveness. Whatever purchases I make have an eye towards making the army more competitive, even if I don't write the list solely to wup everyone's butt.

To be somewhat competitive, but above all fun to play. And hopefully, fun to play against.

What now? I've heard that saying a couple times, though I have no idea where it comes from. :P

Edit: Yay Wikipedia... But what does this have to do with Magic? :P

I like to field alot of infantry with a smattering of heavy weapons in them so that the little guys can cause a world of hurt wherever they go. Dakka is the only way.

I voted other, because I like my army lists to have lots of units. I perfer to out unit my opponent, as it gives me advantages both in deployment, and in choosing where I can apply a given amount of fire. (10 marines in a squad can shoot one target, but 2 squads of 5 can shoot at two different targets, if I so choose.)

For this reason, I like dark eldar and CSM, as the warp beasts / daemons they use do not count as FOC slots, so they can use more units then the FOC normally allows for.

I also voted cost, to win, and "I play necrons" because... I do.
