space marine defectors
I’m relatively new to 40k but I’ve been playing space marines for a while now and I was wondering Is it possible to make a space marine army with tau allies or vice versa(I know its possible to take imperial guardsman), if so is it tournament legal or dose it depend on the person I’m playing

No. Armies cannot "Ally" in any official stance (and, indeed, shouldn't) unless it specifically says so in their Codex. The Inquisition Codices and the Kroot Mercenaries army list are the only examples I can think of that allow Allies.

The only other time you can "ally" in a game is in Apocalypse where you can bring anyhing (and everything!) you own to the table.

Also it is legal, if unfluffy to play two armies together in a Double Tourny.
