If they're the square 25mm ones then yes, because the base isn't smaller than what the miniature was packaged with.

However I wouldn't. I find the square bases on 40k models looks EXTREMLEY unatractive. Not only that but it will make you look lazy.

I honestly don`t know. You have to use the bases the miniature comes with, or a bigger one, so this rules most square bases out.

The only models where square bases are accepted are apparently cavalery and bikes, and even with them a lot of people build themself Capsule Bases (Im one of them, actually).

So I would try to use round bases as much as possible; and if you run out, they are actually among the cheaper GW products, so there`s no problem getting them.

Cheers,
-Bone

As long as the square ones are bigger then the normal circle one's, then yes. People will only think it's out of place because square bases are usually used in WFB where troops square up into bocks. You can always just do it as a temporary thing until you get circle bases, but honestly people have no right to complain about square bases (besides aesthetics).

I'm using a Square Base on my chaos lord because it will be easier to make scenic around him. from a tactical standpoint, it might be a touch to my disadvantage, but oh well.

I played Lost and Damned as well, and used square bases for my massed mutant hordes (Fantasy Swordsmen/Militia/etc). Nobody complained otherwise so I'd say go for it.

For a large diorama style thing, sure, go for it.

Using square bases for random infantry because you ran out of round ones, though, looks badly, especially when you have round bases in the same army. Keep em uniform and round, IMO. It's not as if bases are that expensive.
