Default Torrent of Fire

This is something that I have read about at various times on the forums. Is this an actual rule or just a phrase? And if it is a rule, In which book and what page can I find it?
Thanks

It isn't called torrent of fire in the rule book but it is a real rule. It is hidden in the 4th paragraph on page 26, the one starting with "under normal circumstances..."
It is commonly overlooked and I have had to pull out my book quite a bit when I say to my opponent "ok I got 7 wounds on your 6 man squad, roll the armor save for the plasma gunner first"

This brings up a question I've been pondering. Does torrent of fire apply to assault? The reason I ask is this, for assault casualties it states it's the same casualty process as shooting with these additions, which it lists. Since torrent of fire is a shooting casualty process, that's what got me wondering.

page 41 under "armour saves" is the rules for that in assault. It is practically like Torrent of Fire except it has to be done in a single initiative step.

No problems. I didn't know about the assault torrent of fire till I sat down and read practically every line in the rule book. Found some interesting things that every one at my store was doing wrong too.
Just remember "Knowing is half the battle" the other half is violence, much much violence.

What are some of the other things you came up on that people normally don't know about?

I find myself reminding people how Mixed Armour works all the time. Armor saves are not "averaged down" like majority toughness, so 3 stealth suits (armor 3+) and 6 gun drones (armor 4+) will not take all saves at 4+. They'll take the first 6 at 4+, the next 3 at 3+, then go around again if necessary.

One that I found out was that sweeping advances count as masacre results.

I hadn't known this but I was at a tourney and someone said it so I looked it up and he was right.
