Default Epic scale vs 40k scale

I'm trying to figure out what the difference in sizes are. I see Epic scale pictures but they do like bigger (I know camera zoom) so I was wondering how I could see what a reg size mini is when it's been shrunk down to Epic scale.

I ask all this because I want to get an Epic Tigershark and put it on a base that's the same size as a Tigershark, so I could proxy it, y'know?

When yuo look at the FW website the Epic 40 000 models:

Quote:
Because the scale of the conflict is much larger the scale of the models is much smaller. Epic models are 5 times smaller than their Warhammer 40,000 equivalent.

So...if a Tigershark is 13 inches wide, then I divide by 5 to get the new size? (I'm bad with numbers...)

But that is quite a big difference. I didn't know they were THAT small. I think Micro machines are bigger than those...

If the scale is respected 2,6" wide.

Just claim it's in High altitude

Gotcha. So put a 2.6" model on a 13" base and I can proxy it legally?

Well that would depend on a couple of things.

1) If the shooting range from a flyer is the base rather then the Chassis: If so then, no problem.
2) I don't know if it would be tourney legal, but with your friends I don't see why you couldn't proxy it.

I thought it was from shooter to base and you just add 6" to the range.

Well, that helps me a lot. ^^ Thanks. 5x smaller, so I take the size, divide by 5 and that's an approximation.

Just use IA models. Reasonably inexpensive, and they're already epic scale, and lookin good.

Your base can be whatever size for a flyer. It doesn't have to be the size of the flyer chassis. The only reason I'm against doing this is it's a bit... well. I like big models =)

But your idea is cool and it is something I have definitely thought of.

Well yeah, I like the big models too (XD) but a Tigershark is $100+ for me, not including shipping and handling. On top of that, I don't really have all that much time to spend on putting together and painting a full model.

Besides, on top of that, I have an idea for a diorama. Sort of a "Kor" or "Shas" training dome, y'know? Take the Taros campaign, make a display of it, and have a bunch of shas'saal around it, learning about military history or what have you. ;D What better thing to use than epic scale minis?
