Default Obssessive hobby drive - ever experienced/experiencing it before?

I have this very weird but cool hobby drive these days.

For reasons unknown, I have the tendency to just pick up the putty and try to make stratch-build models/semi stratch-build models.So far my madness have caused me to;

1)Semi Stratch-build/minor conversion models: 2 Chaos Rhino (1 done, the other half-way), 5 Raptors, 10 Sisters of Battle with hoods, 2 Chaos Bikers

2)Stratch-build: Inquisitor lord in wheelchair (half-done), Tallarn Desert Raiders (one of them just need to touch-up the legs, the other is done with the head so far. Perhaps I will make more of them...:shifty, Japanese Geisha (torso done), Ninja Kunoichi (Female Ninja) (head done), Raven-masked Pirate figure (Done with head).

The odd thing about my stratch-build projects is that somehow as I go with them I put them all as a part of the Inquisitor on Wheelchair's force. So in essence, I am making a full retinue for my Inquisitor Lord without me even knowing it.

Even though I know that I have to paint my Sisters of battle in droves, but somehow these projects are taking my precious time of painting my Sisters of Battle and potentially leaving me with more models to paint.

You guys ever have this sort of drive before?

I've broken down a heap of my space marines before and put them back together in different poses, for no real reason, i haven't finsihed re-painting them yet either, i just wanted new poses.

i have an obsessive drive every now and then.

usually i just wake up one morning and go "i WILL paint <insert model/s> today as if my life depends on it!!" - this has led to the painful experience of trying to "pro-paint" 17 stormtroopers in one day (managed but by god if i ever see an unpainted one again i will probably cry : )

or my farseer on jetbike model who took 2 hours to build/convert/paint. mainly because i got a phonecall at 2 in the morning saying i needed to go with someone to a doubles tournament and they were leaving at 6 (being the kind soul that i am i put my stuff together )

I assume you've never read Ravenor...

As for me, I get phases where I just want to do one thing regarding the hobby, whether that's paint, write fluff etc.

But it's my brother's phases I loath the most... He becomes a self possessed convertor, dissambled his entire army (usually breaking around 10% of it completely in the process)... He thens rebuilts his army using the bits found in my box... (usually stuff that I'm looking to use in the near future, shoulder pads and arms being the stuff he takes more often). After a while, you start to see models which may only have the original legs and the rest of it is built from my bits box...

Only ever read "Angels of Darkness" and "First and Only".

On topic, I currently rebuild my old orks to be less rediculous compared to the new ones. That takes some skill, as the new ones are way too cool... Its sort of obsessive too.

Definitly, although i have to wait for a few weeks or months before i get that sudden urge.
Often though just paint individual models here and there whenever i feel like it.
When i get the urge though, the number of hours of sleep i get rapidly decreases
