Default Superstitions?

Anybody have them? Mine is that I wont let anyone touch my tape measure. If you forgot yours at home, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

I use the same one everytime I play and if I leave it at home I will drive home and get it (depending on how far away I am and how much time I have till we start playing)

Anyway, let me know if I'm the only one!

One of my mates.... well its pretty much cardinal sin to touch his dice.

Another one will sit a half eaten maccas burger near the table and tell his opponent he wont win whilst that burger remains uneaten...

I believe that my dice rolls are effected - in direct proportion - to my mood. If I am in a good mood, my karma goes the right way and I roll like a king, which leads to a better mood and better rolling. When I get pissed off about something my dice rolls get progressivly worse, which makes me angrier and roll even worse. We have tested this over many games and it seems to work out...which is scary. Also I have a buddy who doesn't play but will come in about 2/3 the way through the night to hang out, he arrives, my mood instantly improves and my rolls become insanely good. I have won a couple of almost hopeless games simply due to his arrival.

My dice rolls are indirectly proportional to how safe, effective and reliable/hair brained and suicidal I play.
Let me explain; Say I'm playing my tau and pull off a FoF against an enemy unit. An effective and commonly used tactic. My dice rolls are unnaturally bad, especially if I think I'm going to wipe the squad out or at least do a lot of damage.
And yet, if I throw my crisis suit into combat with a tooled up commander unit the crisis suit usually does a good bit of damage (with brilliant dice rolls) before going down.
Problem is, if I start to believe this for one second my rolls become worse and worse no matter what. Power of the mind anyone?

One of the guys here is absolutely convinced that when he's down to 2 guys in a squad, if he rolls his 3+ saves one at a time the last 2 guys will survive.

I am convinced that my dice don't roll 3's and 4's nearly as often as they should. They don't seem to prefer high vs low, but there seem to be far more high and low rolls than middle ones.

Superstitions?

Well, there is a superstition in my store that every non-player that are watching a game can curse someone's dice roll to become very good or very bad.

Funnily enough, it really does happen and I pulled off a few curses of my own.

Player 1: You have to make 5 saves for your termie squad
Player 2:I will now roll for the saves...
Me: Roll all ones for the saves.

*Player 2 rolls save, and he gets five 1's. Termie squad of 5 men are all dead*

Player 2: WTF? *proceed to pretend choke me*

It's a true story.

I've hear ya there. Once I showed up at my friend's house to witness turn 4 of a game between his Eldar and my other friend's Imp Guard. The Imp Guard player couldn't roll ANYTHING good. All his ordinance rolls just scattered away, and his Lascannons kept missing. So, on his next turn (he was losing badly at this point), I said to him gently. "Allow me to bless your dice with Tau-y goodness." He gave me a weird look, but handed over his dice. As a joke, I mumbled something about the greater good over them, and blew on them.
Turn 5:
-Leman Russ #1 wipes out an approaching Wave Serpent.
-Leman Russ #2 hits a Fire Prism directly... Then... Double 5s!
-Mortars kill a whole bunch of Dire Avengers.
-Ogryns charge his commander (which had a 3+, Fortuned invulnerable save). It inflicts one wound on an Ogryn. At this point, the Imp Guard player is seriously worried about his Ogryns getting sweeping advanced. But then, miracle of miracles, the Eldar player actually fails one of his twin-linked saves. I don't really understand why "Tau-y goodness" helped in CC, but perhaps it includes O'Shovah.

I agree totally about the 'attitude affecting dice rolls' thing, by the way.

I can never win at a city fight. Ever.

Proper green table with trees and hills: easy. But I never ever choose to go into those ruins.

I like to Curse the other player.. instead of saying ok you have 7 armor saves to make. I tell him " Ok go ahead and fail 7 armor checks".

and for those unlucky dice everyone has a set put them in a big circle and one in the middle. you may do this by choosing your lowest roller roll them all pick out the 1's roll the 1's again if multipuls left over keep rolling the 1's or the lowest dice till you get to one die left.... Now put him in the middle of the circle add a touch of lighter fluid and BURN IT... the others will fall into line. or sometimes a hammer will do the trick.... I had a buddy that stored his with the 6's up to "train" the dice.

Karma .. hell just be a good decent person to everyone. if the other person dose one of those grey area things let it go .. Karma will get him. Unless its something that will cost you the game thats just a BS move.
