Default ordinance and holo-fields

hi guys,

sorry if its come up before but i couldnt find it in the search,

last night i played (and beat) my mate, go eldar,
anyway in one turn he fired his vindicators ordinance
blast at my falcon, he pointed out that ordinance gets
to roll 2d6 and use the highest, then i says holo-fields
makes him roll 2d6 and take the lowest,
we compromised and he just rolled one dice,

so what do u guys think? does one negate the other?

thanks
cane

Slight misconception there.

Ordnance makes you roll 2d6-pick-highest for armor penetration.

The holofield forces the opponent to roll 2d6 on the DAMAGE chart, and take the lowest.

So, both rules work fine next to each other.

Though, if something such as two rules where one says Roll Two D6 take highest, with the other saying lowest, you roll the normal two, and then you roll a third dice, and, on a 4+, you take the higher one.

Is this something you made up on your own?

No, its not. It is GW's official stance on the Issue! Not joking with that. I've talked to several people and they all said the same thing.

That must be the "flip a coin" method of resolving rules conflicts :. It would be nicer if they just did their job and did proper FAQ's to answer such problems.
