Default Vehicle Squadrons

How horrible are the rules for squadrons of vehicles! They make them not worth using vehicles in squadrons at all! Any more than 2 p. squadron is more of a hinderance and sink of points imo.

If one gets stunned, or immobilised, you need to choose to leave it behind or god forbid sit there and wait for it, all the while getting shot up? Also, hits are distributed through the unit? We're not talking about 15pt models here, we're talking 50+pt pieces of armor, getting shot up like nothing.

Not to mention every vehicle that CAN be in a squadron is a light vehicle, where infantry and even the weaker of the hvy weapons (Hvy Bolters, Big Shootas, etc) can RAVAGE their light armor. And when the glancing hit CARRY THROUGH your 200pt squadron?

Idk, it just seems overly harsh if you ask me. Think they'll change it in 5th? ::crosses fingers::

I completely disagree. Vehicle squadrons are only balanced by the rules your complaining about other wise they become ridiculously hard to get rid of whilst dealing untold amount of damage. Bear in mind most vehicles that can be taken as a squadron are also usually FASt vehicles and usually have access to atleast one melta type weapon. So from trun 2 onwards they're potentially taking out a tank each turn. If your not getting these kind of kills your using them wrong, and these rules are there to balance them out when people who do know how to use them field them.

Also, in armoured fist armies freaking LEMAN RUSS TANKS can be taken in a squadron, so they arn't all light vehicles.

I disagree too, if your going to have squadrons, units of two vehicles are the best, if one dies then there still above 50% (well at 50% if your picky :P)
And the best combination is the landspeeder with assault cannon and heavy bolter, two of those can tear through anything,
If your silly enough to let your tiny weak units get shot, don't use them :P Treat every unit as a sniper, only be able to see what you want to shoot, don't stand in front of the entire army waving.. it doesn't work

I very much disagree. Yes, the rules seem harsh, but you miss a couple points: 1. Vehicles used in squadrons are usually very cheap for the firepower they can put out, and 2. Most vehicle squadrons never need to move anyway; they might as well make Sentinels and Landspeeders immobile until turn 6. :P

But if the rules are changed then issues that shouldn't happen wouldn't be hard-to-imagine problems. Things like one vehicle pops smoke and everyone gets a benefit ( had one space marine player pull this on me with landspeeders) or the massed flechette dispensers activating.

I wouldn't mind it so much if the shots were distributed to the rest of the team only if they were in line-of-sight and/or range.

Landspeeders can't have smoke..
In fact I'm sure that no squadron vehicles can, and if any can, it only effects the one vehicle. you distribute hits, any hit on that one vehicle but turn to glancing.

Then I have been cheated! Doesn't really matter though, I did win soo...Well I know better now so it won't happen again. Still sorta bugs me now that you've pointed it out...

I just always feel bad for the Eldar and imperial walkers. They just seem to get boned moreso than any other squadron.

Remember the upside of Vehichle squadrons is that you can get up to five peices of armour as ONE force organization slot. That means that you can really flood the board with armoured units which are very difficult to take out en masse. Even armour 11 (which some squadrons can get, like piranhas and killa kans) becomes very difficult to deal with when there's 6+ units on the board. Especially if there's heavy vehichles and tanks around to distract things further.
