Default "Scouts" Move

Hey everyone,
Nooby question here. I know it is bad to quote from the BBB directly, but it states that the Scouting unit may take a "Free Move". I assume this is movement phase. So if I had a unit of Genestealers with Fleet, could they move 7-12" in the Scout turn and then another 7-12" in the next turn, giving them a maximum move of 24"?

Also, if there was a unit with scouts and ranged weaponry, and they move in the Scouts turn but not in the regular movement phase, does it still affect their weapon range/heavy weapon firing statistics?

Thanks,
-Khalastas

The free move is done just before movement phase, before you roll to see who goes first, fleet is done in shooting, so 6" normally, effected by terrain etc, and its a free move so the unit doesn't count as moving if they don't in regular movement phase, think of it as an extra 6" to your deployment.
Hope that helps

no the scout move is done after both forces have set up and before its decided who goes first so it goes
scout movement
movement
fleet
assult
meaning that you can go up to 24" in the first round of game if you go first

So, is it possible to fleet in the Scout phase or no?

No. Fleet moves are done in the shooing phase.

Thanks for clearing that up. 24" would have been sweet...Suppose, it'll still get my a sweet 24" max (including charge) assault first turn with 5 attacks. Huzzah for Scuttlers!

Yeah that scout move can be mighty handy sometimes, can make the difference expecially if you feel you've deployed a unit wrongly or could find a better angle on things...... don't think my pathfinders have ever given up that move..... I always deploy them wrong so I can always get them a bit safer thanks to scout. One of these days i'll get it right........ but then what'll I do with the scout move...... ???

Well you deploy them wrong on purpose, tricking your opponent into thinking that's where they'll start, then you move them into safe terrain :P

LOL!

No, what you do is to deploy in a bad firing line to your enemy, then move through the terrain and shoot on the other side. This is probably where hes deployed most of his stuff.
