Default Quick question on rapid fire weapons.

I've always assumed that if a unit has moved then they can fire up to 12" but only get one shot.

Recently some people I've been playing with have insisted that you can still rapid fire after moving, I kinda thought this would defeat the point of rapid fire and basically make them assault weapons.

Anyone know the actual rule on this?

Thanks.

A rapid-fire weapon is allowed one shot at its maximum range if it does not move, but if the wielder of the weapon moved, then it can only shot two shots at the 12" range. However, once you shoot a rapid-fire weapon, you can never assault at all .

The only weapons that allow you to assault after you shoot it are weapons that are classified as Assault or Pistol (But if you decide to shoot twice with the pistol, you can not assault at all.)

The difference between an assault weapon and a rapid-fire weapon is that an assault weapon enables you to assault and do close combat with the squad that you just fired on, but Rapid fire weapons can't.

Edit: I meant assault for the pistol one Sorry about the horrible typo. It is bolded if you want to see it

Don't you have the rule book with you? It is stated there in black and white. :-\

Those kind of questions are often easily answered with the use of a rule book.

Nah, don't have one, never really seen the need. Know pretty much all the basic/important, been playing for a few years. Just some areas that I'm not too sure about.

The problem with the weapons was really because I learnt how to play from different people, some who obviously didn't really know themselves.

And there you have the reason why you need to actually buy the rule book .

And just remember theres a limit to what we can actually explain on these boards , GW's anally retentive IP issues and all that good stuff .

Trust me, get a rule book, it helps out a lot. I had that idea last year, and Faolin and I duked it out in a thread for around 15 posts or so... and nothing really happened. And then one day I decided to get one for the hobby, kill team, and combat patrol missions.
