Default Army Selection (again)

Tried Inquisition: Didn't work out.

So I have a new list of things i want for my army:

No Imperial marine armys

I want a very fluffy army

Lots of plastic models

Quite Cheap transports (If there are any) (30-90 Without upgrades)

Can hold their own in CC

Medium amount of models (Or high)

The army you suggest may break two of the above
Also I Collect Chaos already
And have:

Eldar codex

Imperial codex

Blood angels codex

Marines codex

Also if you think I should wait for a new dex to come out thats fine (more time to killing the false emperor)

Any ideas?

Eldar seem to fit the bill reasonably. All we fall down on is transports (why oh why, we are so near) and we have no plastic HQ (unless you convert a dire avenger exarch).

Orkses!!

The orks are definately not marines...

Theres nothing cooler than an ork army - you can make the models damn fluffy!!

And you know you want the excuse to shout idiotic comments at the enemy.

If you want you can do almost everything (aside from the vehciles) with the standard box and a good number of bits. Plus they look pretty cool anyways.

Yep - hit the nail on the head. With upgrades the trukk barely reaches 50 points. And it's a niffty piece of kit aswell.

It's the enemy that should be afraid to hold their own in close combat. Orks are beasts in combat.

Your going to have models coming out of your armpit.

I wouldn't wait to build up the core of your army - the new boxes aren't going to be that economical.

They are possibilities (maybe) :-\

Thinking of an army with oodles of fluff possibilities (guard?).

I'm just a newbie , but sounds like Marines to me (I think the only thing still made out of metal is characters and HQ, I may be wrong). Smurfs can hold their own in CC. You could easily make your chapter rogue or for fun you could make them cursed. Transports are fairly cheap and you don't get more fluff than they've got. I must admit with regret that I have been thinking of starting these myself.

Just a shallow easy answer...

Which part of "No Imperial marine armys" did you miss?

I`d say Orks. You get the full program - and you can even play an amy with only a "medium" amount of models - Killakan and Deffdred heavy with loads of Trukk Boyz!

A match made in heaven!

Your shrugging of Orks because of lack of fluff potential!?

:sadnshocked:

You could have an army of mad max style loonies, an army of gunz for hire, merciless pirates, a group that spent it's time drinking whilst picking fights with anything in the galaxy, a feral army that is directly apposed to anything modern and flashy, a klan that worships khorne or Nurgle, a group that follows the Imperial guard combat doctrine as close as possible, a bunch of cyber orks that loot anything mechanical and uses it to fortify themselves, a group of goff rockers looking for the biggest souds possible. They can be totally evil and dark, closely human with developed societies and civilizations, the typical enemy, the greatest threat ever. Or anything you let your imagination conjure.

And the best part is that you can reflect the fluff that you have created in you army: either in part in those few special squads (like I do) or throughout the entire army (like waargh does)

Seriously - think about any idea and you will find that orks can be bent to fit the bill nicely.

Why not consider Dark Eldar?

Sure is hell not.

Quite deadly raiders, also bonus rules for taking slaves. How cool is that?
Quote:

Troops, bikes and transports are plastic. Mandrakes and wyches can be made from the warriors.

Raiders I don't think are too expensive.

Quote:

They can be devastating in close combat.
Quote:

They have very cheap troops. They can have a decent number of models

Got to agree with Grindgobble, Dark Eldar seems to fit the bill...and the new codex is rumor for 2008.

Not necessarely an easy army to start with, but they can field many cheap transport (granted open top, but...) and the wyche are quite annoying in CC. and mostly plastic model.
