Default Paint Stripping

I need to remove the paint off of some of my models because i accidentally undercoated them to thickly. I have heard that people use brake fluid to remove the paint but i don't know how the process for this goes or if it even works or not as i have only heard about it once. If this information is posted somewhere else please post a link. Thanks.

There is probably something in the painting section on this but jsut quickly here. Yes you can use brake fluid, it doesn't damage plastic which has been a problem with most other cleaners. Just pour the stuff straight into a clean container, drop in your models and let them soak for aobut a day. Fish them out and scrub with a old toothbrush under clean runnign water and you should be good. Though you might want a small pick to get paint out of the hard to reach areas.

Oh, and it's been known to undo glue bonds so you might have to reassemble.

Brake Fluid kicks ass, but do NOT water it down at all, even a cup of water makes it useless.

Brake Fluid can strip some things in 15 minutes and you can leave it for a month with no damage to the mini.

That's all correct, I used that method to repaint some second hand Eldar I bought at a sale.

BTW this topic really should have been posted in the painting section. If a mod would be so kind as to move it there you might get some additional ideas...

If you want a nicer smelling way of stripping paint try Pinesol. Leave the models in soak over night then clean them with a toothbrush in the morning works on both metals and plastics.

hope this helps.

If you live in Australia then you'll have access to Eucaliptus oil. From the good old australian gum tree! It strips off anything, leaves a really strong smell though. But it dissapates after a few days.

This topic might come in handy.

A Gmod might actually want to merge these two...

I've never had problems with it myself Avor and it's cleaned a couple of sets of badly primered and painted models that I've brought from Ebay.* However if you've had problems with it then their well worth pointing out.

cheers
