Default How are wounds distributed if you have a bodyguard?

I had a HQ with 2 bodyguards in close combat with a broodlord. Can I make all the wounds go to my bodyguards first?

Or if the same unit is being shot at while moving can I have my bodyguard die first or does my HQ need to take some of the wounds?

So I can give them all to my bodyguard then?

no, the rules state that each model must recieve one wound before any model can take more than one.

Therefore you have to asign each model (your HQ and bodyguards) a wound each before you can give one of them a second. Your HQ must be wounded if you take three wounds.

But one thing you can do is assign the wounds so the bodyguards take the lascannon shots and the HQ takes the lasguns

I've always been confused on this as well. The rules state you wrap wounds, giving one model a wound each, but they also state (don't have my rulebook handy), that with multi-wound model units you need to remove whole models where possible. I've never been entirely sure how to handle it either.

Shooting and close combat are worked out differently.

Shooting. Unit of 1 Broodlord and two Body Guards. Each have Multiple wounds.

In the first round the unit is shot and fails 1 save. One wound can go on any model. Next round the unit is shot and fails 1 save. That wound must go on the model that already has taken a wound.
Different Armour Saves, and toughness does not matter, since you use the majority Save and toughness rule.

Close combat is completely different. I think the Broodlord is an IC that can take a bodyguard unit.
If a Unit of Broodlord and 2 Body Guards are in close combat, the attacking unit must split attacks between the Broodlord and the body guard according to the IC in close combat rules. At that point you can not more wounds from your Lord to your body guards.

Hope that helps, and If the Broodlord is not an IC then the rules for close combat is the same as shooting.

However, this only applies to a group of multiwound models. A group of Kroot, with a Shaper (who has 3 wounds) can take 2 wounds on a shaper before applying more wounds to the group, because only one model in the group has more than one wound. However, in a group of Crisis Suits (or Broodlords), you can't take one wound on each member of the group. If you take three wounds, you have to apply two of them to one model (killing it), before you can apply the third wound to a second model. ...sorry, hope that's not too confusing.
