Yea right now it is between Imp. Guard and the DG coming out. I like dakka alot but I like nurgle's back story and rules. Also I like alot of models but I like converting things. Also I love tanks but a whole army of death guard seem fun. I tried Tau but only liked the FW dakka. I layed Iron warriors but never really liked sitting back to much with them due to lack of dakka, I had tons of rhinos. Please help.

I used to play a straght death guard army. It was awsome, but eventually they just get wittled down. Especially when you have them infiltrate, and the next turn they get rapid fired against. Some lucky rolls and your high toughness models get shot up. I would go with them, but its just i dont like how few models you get. But i'll tell you about one awsome Time I had with them.
I was playing a game against a guy named Rodney, and he had deep striking IG. He deep struck them infront of me, shot and assaulted. Next turn half of his army just broke and was slaughtered. aspiring champions with power weapons, demonic strength and demonic visage totally destroy the units. ....... Actualy, screw everythig I said bad about nurgle. Go for em!

I'd say go for the Death Guard because:
a)You like the fluff and rules, which is a good start for any army. b)You can convert lots with Death Guard and all their Nurgle-y stuff. Although if you really like lots of models then Death Guard aren't for you. |

I kinda thinking guard due to the fact the models are very well made. You can play them many differnt ways. I think I might wait out the death guard intill we get some love with daemons and special weapons for nurgle. But yet they where the first army I wanted to play but I love the fact that guard is just us only fighting super-beings. I am so confused. One thing I do want is an easy army to get on the table, my this is I am afriad that I will do to much convertions and spend way to much money (my last bitz list for DG was around $750 for 1500 pts), also guard seem easier to paint. Man I don't know but I am leaning towards Guard.

And the list itself can be tweaked to suit your needs - hell, when I've done with the guard I'm going to have enough models for an all infantry SIGAFH set up, enough Chimeras for a mechanised infantry list, enough tanks for a tank company (planning on two baneblades this sumer - ohhh yeaah!), a tank heavy list without having to resort to moving away from the main 'dex, and the mixture in between!! Also the sight of all of them models is just going to be magnificent, and I can play in anyway that takes my fancy. The guard is definitely the choice if your looking to maximise your flexibility and yet stamp it with your personality at the same time. Quote:

Bear in mind that nurgle is even easier to paint - just under coat it white and attack it with greens and multiple ink washes! Thats what I did with my nurgle army - although I did it very simply as I wanted to get them on the table. Quote:

I'd say go with Death Guard. I do love seeing my mate's death guard play, and there's nothing like watching him place them right out in the open, take a whole turns worth of firing and emerge without a scratch. That always makes me chuckle.
Lots of conversion opportunities, but the low model count is pretty interesting to play with, vaguely like a 40K version of Ogres.

you are most definetely confused, especially with the two statements that you have made.

From what I can gather from your post, here are the things that you have and wanted to do with them. 1)Looks 2)Fluff 3)Practicality 4)An easy army to get on the table 4)Financial 1. Looks As for looks, I notice that you say that you like the looks of the Imperial Guard. That in my opinion is the first thing that one have to look out for when one starts an army. Since you are going to invest alot for an army, it is best that you enjoy painting the minis and also the looks of the army, as that can help alot. But then you said that you want to convert them as well. Death Guard is better in this sense as they are usually much more forgiving for conversion than an Imperial Guardsmen. Imperial Guards (particularly Cadians) are already appealing as they are, whereas Chaos Marines are not that different from each other. So any conversion on an Imperial Guardsmen is a rather challenging thing, while Chaos conversion is seen as pretty normal. So for looks without conversion, I say Imperial Guard. Conversion-wise, I say Death Guard. 2. fluff You like the fluff of the Imperial Guardsmen as being human, whereas you like the fluff of Death Guard as the epitome of death and torment. This is a very important factor as your taste of fluff can be a determining factor. You like the will of hope, then you go IG. If you want a more grim, darker story then go for Death Guard. 3. Practicality Imperial Guard can be tailored to whatever you want, from a hordish army, to a mechanized force. With the addition of doctrines, it is rather flexible. However, most (not all) Imperial Gaurd armies, hordish or elite, elites on a static firebase to maximize their advantage. For Death Guard, they can also be tailored to whatever you like. However, Death Guard infantry weapon choices are more limited that way. However, they can be as fast or as slow as you want it to be. However, you must keep in mind that they are both more or less a defensive army, with the death guard able to have some surprising conterassault units. 4. An easy army to get on the table For this one, I have to be a little biased and say Death Guard. They have less miniatures and they can be played rather quickly. Painting is a relatively quick process and less arduous than an Imperial Gaurd army. If you want the numbers, then painting and converting Imperial Guard is a nightmare on its own. The number of minis to paint and convert is staggering. 5. Finance You have nothing of the Imperial Guard, and you have most of the things to make a Death Guard army. In addition, you can make a mechanized Nurgle army straight up without much difficulty. The rhinos tells alot. In addition, although Imperial Guard may appear cheaper, but buying the tanks and the troops suck even more money out of your pockets than a Space-marine equivalent army. That's why alot of people started space marines as they can be easily set up and completed. Based upon these points, I say you are better off starting Death Guard, but if you want to start Imperial Guard it is okay as well. Just follow you heart on thsi one. ![]()

Death guard. I'm saying this and i play Tzeentch so you know it's gotta be right. :P
Anyway here's why. Dakka: death guard have dakka as do IG the difference is DG has beter quality dakka whilst IG has more Dakka. Conversions: Everyone has eery disease in teh galaxy and then some. plenty of conversion opportunity here. guard can be converted but are a lot more uniformed. Tanks: Predators, rumours of vindicators and ladraiders.
