Default WYSIWYG & Grenades

How does WYSIWYG apply to grenades? If I model them onto my Fire Warriors, am I compelled to take them?

You could just say that the 'nades are ammo, food, etc. ALos if you want them but they arn't on the model you could just say they are in the backpack.

I'd say if you're using a GW model straight, don't worry about it. If you're using customized or models from a different company, go get some Space Marine frag grenade sprues and scatter them amongst the unit (since the whole unit has grenades). The big issue with WYSIWYG is when a player is using a model with interchangable parts (for example, pathfinders have two guns from which to choose). Those models would have to have the exact wargear of your list.

Well, generally, anything which your unclear of on your opponents models are easily sorted out, "what does that HQ have?" and "what does that do" etc. And the same is for your opponent

Heya,

Grenades with a model tend to be WYSIWYG unless the event organizer is lax about things. Units which get grenade options tend to come with a few. They're not just for decoration. Units which always have grenades tend to come with them already on the model for example. And sometimes, grenades come on models who have a choice to buy them or not, yet they're there (Pathfinders for example). In cases where you have grenades but don't want them, I would simply inform an opponent or event organizer. I'm sure they'll be pretty easy going about it.

Cheers,

I know back in 3rd edition there was a specific exception for WYSIWYG and grenades. Maybe they left it out in 4th (like the bit about losing your original weapons when you upgrade > ), but I reckon they still intend it to be that way.

I made this same topic about a week ago, and still not entirely sure about it. lol

I personally don't see how it should matter. I think the only time it would be a problem is when someone's just trying to be malicious and is looking very hard for things to screw up your army list, and tells you they all HAVE to have grenades so you'll have to spend the points and drop something else to make it all work, possibly a unit he's worried about that would make victory easier for him. I can't really say much seeing as how I don't even OWN the rulebook, but it looks to me like it's just part of the model/uniform. All the firewarriors on the back of the box had them. Most of them in the codex do, too, though there's an odd few that don't. I just bought a pathfinder Shas'ui yesterday and he has nades on him, too. And he's made of metal so I can't very well take them off (you could I suppose, but it'd take some work and I don't see why anyone with sense would make you do that anyway).

The whole tournament thing, I don't have any experience with that either so I really don't know. I would -think- that as long as you aren't trying to give your firewarriors all pulse carbines when they all have pulse rifles modeled on them, or gluing carbines to their backpacks so you can say they have both, or something...picking on small stuff like that when there are plenty of other illegal things you could be doing just doesn't seem right. I really think they should include that in the rulebook or codex or something...under the troops section or in the wargear list maybe. "DO NOT model firewarriors with grenades if you don't plan on taking them" maybe, or if they're too lazy for that then make a box set with markerlights and all that other wargear they don't have bits for so you can play the game "proper"...and maybe even make them more money for having to buy even more stuff to get playing.
