Hello,

Having seen my friends play some 40k games I have become interested in starting an army. I've done a fare bit of reading across the Internet about the different races but am having a hard time deciding.

I have thought about a Slaanesh army (they just seem mental!) but there are already 2 chaos players in my group along with a tau player a grey knight/black templar player and a tyranid/ork player. I think 3 chaos players in 1 small group like ours could upset things.

So I am in a bit of a bind. I would like to pick up an army that is fun to use and perhaps with some flexability although I'm not so fond of the space marines.

I've got £120 to spend and am planning to grab something either tomorrow or on sunday.

Suggestions please.

it is usually best to pick models by their looks, since their looks represtn there playstyle usually.

and remember that you could play the same army as every other person in your group, but if you all have different playstyles you'll have lots of fun.

slaanesh are both cool, sexy, sleek and fun to play and convert...

go with them!

You like their looks, you will enjoy playing, building , painting and converting them.

Deciding on an army is a daunting task, I know how it feels. Right, so you were intrested in Slannesh? Well just because your mates have Chaos doesn't mean you can't have them? If you like Slannesh, heck! go for them so what if the others are upset, they will have to just deal with it.

Slaanesh is a cool army, they have almost no drawbacks! They're basic troops (Noise Marines) are Gods on the battlefield, they excel at shooting and assault! Emperor's Children (Slaanesh Chaos Marines) are a very balanced army, which means they can take on any foe without to much trouble. You should check out some of the helpful Articles Here.

Have you considered the Lost and the Damned? That would allow you to get the slaneessh stuff you like but find fielding traitor guard along with them it would be quite a different chaos army than what your friends probably have. You can view the army list at the GW website.

If that doesn't interest you just get the army YOU like and don't worry what your friends have. You can always game outside your friends group, too. So don't let what they have decide what you get.

Find out what cults your friends play. All the cult legions are different enough to be considered practically seperate armies.

Damn Skippy. They get the coolest blend of any army (Plus a free codex on GW online), CSM, IG and Mutants. If you don;t like that, just call them something different... see the other topic near here on what army to choose for what to call them.
