Hey everybody i wanted to make a post where people could talk about their custom armies and their backgrounds and such. i looked through a bunch of random pages under 40k universe and didn't see any so i figured it would be OK to post.
I created an Imperial Guard regiment called the Ultstadt Solvek Seventh Riders. They are mechanized because i like displaying a solid wall or fire power and steel that covers a long table edge! 8) Their paint scheme is loosely based on that of the old USSR troops. They have a Fortress Grey primary color with details in snakebite leather, blood red, and chaos black. i painted their base with a scorched brown base and a drybrush of camo green to look like frozen dirt and dyeing grass. if i figure out how to post pictures then i will later and i might post a small fluff at some point. anyway cant wait to hear about and maybe see some of your armies on here later. ;D

In announcements there is a guide to posting pictures but you basically just host them on a site like photobucket, get the links to them and add image tags( [*img]linkhere[*/img]) exept without the *'s.

I've got a panned group of Tau, called the A'chu 25th Droppers, a.k.a: The Battlehawks. Basically, the entire force is meant to drop from orbit to support already placed ground formations with additional firepower. The entire list is based off of the contents of two Orcas: 48 FWs, 12 Crisis Suits, 16 Gun Drones and 3 Hammerheads. The 'heads play the part of the force's escort form orbit. In a game where FW stuff would be legal, the 'heads would be replaced with Barracudas.
The primary colour for my ground forces is Catachan Green, to match with most terrain that tables are built around, and because their home planet(s) are covered in jungle, grasslands and forests. The Forge World air forces would be probably Codex Grey, to maximise camouflage with the sky in any weather. This army is quite inspired by the show Tour of Duty, it's about the war in Vietnam. The army also has a permanently attached mission group, who specialize in night-missions, and who ride aorund in specially modified Tigersharks. The main colour of the entire group is black. It means I've got an easy time painting, just the lights and so on. The system falls under close proximity of both Sa'cea and Msi'm'yen septs, and draws heavily form the tactics of both, but uses Vior'la battlesuit configs for the most part. They also test field test plenty of wargear, but that's only in friendly games. |

I've had this really weird idea for a joekaro army (for those of you that don't know what joekaro are, they are an orangutan like creature that is able to create extremely advanced weaponry and technology, but don't seem to be the slightest bit intelligent. You might find something on them if you wiki them or if you have the original wh40k: rogue trader)
To show that they are so technically advanced, yet still feral animals I was thinking of using the rules for the tau... the lack of fighting ability because they don't understand the rudiments of hand to hand. At the very least they should be a really funny army to play... "Why do your crisis suits seem to have orange hair jutting out of all of their joints?" ;D

I have a custom Guard army that was built using all plastic bits (no metal), it is built using random parts from the following boxed sets: Cadian Shock Troops, Cadian Heavy Weapons Squad, Catachan Jungle Fighters, Catachan Heavy Weapons Squad, Empire Soldiers, Empire Knights, Empire Command Sprue, Dwarf Warriors, Kroot Carnivores, Tomb King Skeletons, Dark Eldar Warriors, Tactic Space Marines, Assault Space Marines. I know it is a lot of components, but it payed off with a great themed regiment. I started by cutting all the bits off the sprues and mixing them up in a box. Then I started putting them together, leaving some of the more non-guard parts out (Kroot bodies, Dark Eldar bodies, etc.). As some of the prototypes emerged, a theme popped into mind. My Guardsmen would hail from a midevil style of world with a ruling military caste, and an honor-bound preference for hand-to-hand (like Klingons). They would forgo lasguns for pistols and CCWs, but keeping all the Heavy Weapons that Guard shoul have. They would also carry shields that count as "Carpace Armour". Then in an experiment I used the dwarf bodies and heads to make Squats, who after the colapse of the Squat Homeworlds joined with the Humans for mutual defense. Thus the Glendar-Korak Bianary was born, a mini-empire that would loosely fight as Imperial servants. My army became the 4th Regiment, 35th Company GKB Crusaders.

My mech tau is very fluffy. Basicly it is similar to one already posted, but different. The tanks and suits are 'dropped' Out of a manta or two as it strafes the enemy positions. If there are any static forces (Last game i used two six man squads, thats it) they are the ones calling in support. They are the storm troopers of the tau empire. The 'Sarnasian helldivers' or 'sarnasian dragons' either or.

I have a steel legion army and i have converted 3 rocket launchers in to 3 autocannon using the autocannons from talleran models. I have made plasma pistols for my officers and changed their posses. Put a longer barrel on my russ tank. Thats about it. Oh ya i have a fully converted Nid army about 2000 points of them. They were fun to do and paint, I can do a good speed paint job, i did the new lictor model in 40 minutes people like it too. thats it

Dark Eldar: There is a topic about my Dark Eldar a few pages back, but as a main gist... The Kabal of the Silent Shadow is just a subsect of another larger Kabal as they were cut off from their Dark Eldar bretheren (and sisteren?)
Tau: Under the command of a crazy commander and determined Ethereal, Shas'Tau'Kau'Yau Cadre mainly fights with a hybrid base, using Mech units to harrass attackers and Static elements to pour fire into the enemys line. Space Wolves:Logan Grimnar's company, 'nuff said. |

I've based my Tau around a similar idea of the Ke'lshan Sept. Basically, they're shipboard marines so I don't have anyone except Tau in my army (I've put CC weapons on to my Fire Warriors and said they count as Kroot, tempted to put some jump packs on some other Fire Warriors and say they count as Vespid). Since they're based on an Air Caste ship, I field only battlesuits, stealth suits and Fire Warriors.
It doesn't make much sense that I fight on the ground with them but I like being different.
