I don't know what to do...
i was sat down today with a nice cup of tea, writing out an eldar army list for when they come out later in the year, but soon enough i went "i want those pulse carbines", and changed my mind about which army to collect; dug out my tau codex and started to see how many carbines and battle suits i could get, sure enough, half way through i thought about including some kroot but "there not all that strong, and there is nowt a well placed choppa can't solve", found my old ork codex (with my original handwritten notes from 7 years ago! when i was ten!) and before i could paint my skin green i remembered that the autrach (sp?) was going to be released, as well as new rules for the avatar. So... what i want you, the kind members that you are, is to listen to my rants and suggestions and see which army i should do... And please no race biasness, remember that i am the one that is buying the things! [glow=green,2,300]ORKS[/glow] these guys where my first ever army, and i loved them to bits. MY PROS- -already know how they behave -already got a large amount of models -Major good fun in a fight -40 attacks form ten men -can include some strange things that will make me laugh. - i can run around the store/ room waving my arms and talking strangely MY CONS -my old models need a HUGE overhall in the detail of painting -Ive lost an awful lot of models from my old army -have no real humanity in them (duh) - i REALLY don't like the vehicles - isn't all that much in the way of exoticness [glow=blue,2,300]ELDAR[/glow] Ive wanted an eldar army for a long time, but only the HQ units and the ancient models put me off. But they are being revamped, so they are being re-thought MY PROS -there getting new stuff -they have/ getting cool models (those rangers are awesome!) -exarches are cool -a chance to include harlequins -the tanks are amongst my most favourite vehicles in the game MY CONS -fragile, which means i can't "impulse buy" (which i can with da greenskins) -they are a heavily elite army, one unit=one job -don't have all that much range with them (though i do prefer assault) -the farseer powers are rather crap in my opinion -they are usually done in bright colours, i prefer dark colours -correct me if I'm wrong but the aspect warriors are all metal [glow=purple,2,300]TAU[/glow] i can't say i adore the tau, but i love the idea of evil tau. Which is what my army would be based on. Nice dark brooding colour scheme, basing them on sc-fi assassins.... MY PROS -pulse carbines -battle suits -the models are fairly cool -truck loads of weapon options MY CONS -only get 6 carbines in a box (anyone got any freebies for me? ;D) -the commander doesn't get much in the way of close combat capabilities -stats worse than a squished imperial guardsman -the vespid are just ugly in my opinion, but love the stats Yes... those are what i think. And please don't just read this and go "Na! won't bother hitting reply this time", because i need some input |

Well for starters you actually get 9 Carbines in a box of Firewarriors I think. Six arms holding them and 3 loose carbines not being held by anyone. A little cutting and chopping and it won't be hard to make a full carbine unit.
Personally I'm a huge Tau fan. They're great fun, a really cool army to use that requires you to think, and then think some more! One lapse in attention during a game can really cost you. Also consider this: You have a bunch of Ork models already? You want Kroot in your army? Well.... Why not use "Ork Freebooters" to reprsent your Kroot? You can just convert some Ork models a bit and use the Kroot stats, it gets you a bit of everything this way.

I love the idea for ork freebooters, and it'll give you a little of both worlds.

I do that with any army I'm playing; it's fun and it demoralizes your opponent. I even play music as a "theme" for my army sometimes. All in all, it's about what's going to be the most fun to play. If you just cannot have as much fun with eldar or tau as your orks, then go with the orks. Even if you lose, orks are always a blast!
