Okay, some models, such as the Vindicare Assasin require you use night fight rules to see him (and half that).
But what if I had a searchlight, say on a Rhino? Would I still be able to see him in standard missions (Clease, Meatgrinder, ect...) by using the seachlight because he uses Nightfight rules? I mentioned it to my friend (who uses the vindicare) and he wasn't to sure, and I really haven't used my searchlight at all. It just makes me curious. I don't see why you couldn't, but what do you think? |

I don't think you can do that.
1. Think about it. If its light out, you'd barely be able to tell that the Searchlight is on in the first place. 2. A beam of light doesn't help you see something in a suit that bends light around it. |

Well, I'm not sure there are any rules for using it in a non-nightfight mission...

In the 3rd Ed. TauFAQs (not available anymore) there was a FAQ about Stealthsuits and Searchlights (and their equvilients). It states that you can't use searchlights to piont out stealthsuits. Since the vindicare has a stealthsuit, I'm pretty sure it applies too.

Besides, how would you know where to point the light?

According to my Guard codex (nearest one on hand), it says that a Searchlight is only used in missions where Night Fighting is in effect...so you can't use them in regular circumstances. I'm not sure of the actual clarification with spotting them in games where they are...but we played that if the Searchlight sees them itself, then it can be done. It doesn't give you any greater advantage to spot them, however.

Short answer; no.
Even in broad daylight, the vindacare is hard to spot. Shining a little bit more light on him isn't going to do any good.
