Default Do you have to base walkers?

I just got done converting one of my stalk tanks that I will use as sentinels in my LatD army. They are too large to fit on the normal sentinel bases so I was wondering about LoS. Do I have to stick a base underneath it for LoS purposes? Because it's a good half inch bigger all around and it matters because I may be using them to screen raptors.

With vehicles, the base size really doesn't matter. If you want you can use a bigger base, or you can just leave it as is. I'd go for as is, a base that size could be a problem.

That's not entirely true. If it's a walker, I'd try to base it somehow, as if it gets into combat, the distinction definition of base-to-base contact is important.

I always base tanks and such. But my friends tend to not base their dreadnoughts.

Early dreadnoughts came without a base so technically you dont have to base em. Of course then you have a hell of a time trying to figure out who's in combat with the darn thing. I know people who ruthlessly exploit this and trust me, it isnt fun.

Just make a base out of plasticard or something. It'll save a lot of headaches in the long run

I would base them.

In my experiences, I don't usually go base to base, when a part of a model is sticking out, but rather what part of the model is touching the other.

So far most walkers are dreadnoughts, and sentinels, and these tend to have attacks in close combat. If this stalk tank is just a 'counts as' unit, then will it count as a walker? And would you base your average Leman Russ?

But on the other hand, the base will add a lot of structural strength to the thing.

Why not just take a sentinel base, and then cut 2 25mm bases and glue those on there with arcs cut out of them. It'll look funky, but you'll have a distinct base for it.

Make a base... Pretty simple... make it out of Plasticard like said above or from perspex... it will look cool and because it is a walker it will have heaps of space at the bottom so make it a custom secnic base... Ive done that sort of thing when i used to collect Dark Elves... and I made a rather funky looking Sacrafice Pit >
