Default Battleforces

Hi all,

Im currently in the Market for a seconf army and was thinking that i would start off with a battleforce like I usually do. I was wondering if anyone could help me by telling me if there were any battleforces taht just weren't worth starting with.

Thanks,
Matthew

I would wait on buying a battleforce, as they are all in Que to go down in price to $90 (US), just in case one/some of the army(ies) you are/have considered/are considering is/are above the $90USD stat line.

When did you hear that prices are dropping anywhere? That sounds against the GW ethos to me...

A battle force is an excellent way to start an army and give you multiple choices all in one box for a reduced cost. Only the Eldar boxed set is one to be wary off, because their models are soon to be redone...and you could hold off for that reason. All the others are a cheap and effective option.

Well if you don't already play Tau they just had a new battleforce released and frankly it's an excellent deal!

Basically the box contains a full 500 point Tau army!

1 Battle suit (Use him as a commander) He'll be about 90-110 points depending on how he's equipped.

3 Stealth suits - anywhere from 90-130 points

12 Firewarriors and devilfish 200-230 points.

12 Kroot - ~100 points

4 Gun Drones ~50 points.

Not only is it a full army, it's actually a pretty decent one!

The best deal in the whole GW 40k line is the Necron Box, in my opinion, the Tyranid, Tau, and Space marine boxes are also (relatively) good deals.

Cash-wise, the Necron box is an awesome deal. Defenitely wait, as I've heard independently about the price drops.

All the battle force boxes are dropping to 90$ (US) near the beginning of July. (the 5th or 6th I believe)

As far as the best deal when it comes to battleforces, well I would say Necrons are really good, but the tyranid one gives you basically 4 troop choices, a heavy, and a HQ unit. You buy two of those and you have a full army.

With the Tyranids an eight bug unit is a troop choice in name only.

thats why you buy two.

you put the guants from both into one unit, the hormagaunts from both into one unit, have 2 units of stealers and one unit of rippers. Last I counted that was 5 troop choices.

I'm not saying that having them as your 5 troop choices are the best thing, and I know that 8 gaunts in one unit isn't good even in at 500 pt. game. What I do know is that for the 90$ you spend on the battleforces the nids are one of the best deals, if not the best.

Plus you'll have 2 carnifexes and 6 warriors to take your heavy and HQ slots.

1000 pts. (roughly, I don't feel like pulling out my codex right now)

HQ1: 3 warriors w/ rending claws, scything talons and extended carapace

HQ2: 3 warriors w/ venom cannon, scything talons, devourers and extended carapace

Troop1: 8 genestealers w/ scuttlers and extended carapace

Troop2: 8 genestealers w/ scuttlers and extended carapace

Troop3: 16 hormagaunts

Troop4: 16 guants w/ fleshborers

Troop5: 4 ripper swarms

Heavy1: Carnifex w/ venom cannon, barbed strangler, enhanced senses

Heavy2: Carnifex w/ venom cannon, barbed strangler, enhanced senses.

descent army with a good mix of shooting and assault. only really needs some more synapse creatures. And it all comes in 2 battleforces.

Simply all the "old" battleforces are going down. However, all the "new" ones (ex. Tau, new eldar, new orks) will go up.
