Default Unit design rules

I recall having seen rules for making your own units. I tmight have been for Warhamer fantasy but I guess there are also rules for 40 000. Does anyone know where I can find these?

There are vehicle design rules, not unit design rules. You can find the vehicle design or VDR in the chapter approved 2004 book.

i think there should be unit design rules (official) and not just aking stuff up to help your army in something (super CC kroot with a 2+ armor save and feel no pain ;D)

There is a monster generator somewhere in Black Gobbo (on the US web page) I think it was also put in the UK white dwarf, but i'm not sure

Then again theres the monstrous creature creator for the Tyranids that they also released. I know I've seen it in an old white dwarf, but I'm not sure if they reprinted it in the 2004 chapter approved or not.

I'm not talking about the vehicle or creature design rules. I know I've seen rules for making units in fantasy games, there's got to be rules for 40 000 also.

Actually, there aren't. It's simple: they have no need for them, so we don't get them.

yes while that is valid, it would have to cost an assload of points (aka 2 broadsides could destroy the entire army easily)

I made rules for creating Dogs of War regiments in WFB... they're quite balanced too.
