I was playing a mega battle last weekend and our team said we were going to do a preliminary bombardment on them. One of the opposing side told us to wait for a second and he whipped out his imperial guard handbook and honestly 5 of them started praying to the Emperor about giving them a hand dodging shells  .
They weren't doing it as a joke and needless to say they got stared at for a while afterwards.

Oh, come on! You're not a real Guard player unless you recite the prayers from the back of your Uplifting Primer with everything you do!

That is perfectly normal behaviour. What would you do? Fortify your your position? THE EMPEROR PROTECTS!

[edit]

I always make a point of referring to the Emperor as "The Carrion Lord" while I play Tau. My opponent is a "Servant of the Carrion Lord".

I do shout "Kovash'Shi'Shas!" occasionally. I also like the hallowed Finnish war-cry...

"Shoot for the testicles!"

So where do you get a copy of that primer?

And here I thought this post was going to be about sore losers and the like.

I know a Khorne player who screams "Blood for the Blood God!" every time he charges into combat...perfectly reasonable.

I lil getting into the spirit of things is fine by me, but sometimes it just gets wierd. Still, I'd rather play a wierdo thats a lil too into his fluff than some of the overcompetitive, powergaming lil rats where I am...

Very true Fish Ead.

Still there one can be too obsessed with something... a little fresh air, some diversity in ones activities can do wonders for helping that, ya know some people really should get out of the basement every once in a while

Just the opposite for me...

Half our battles are over precious snacks and drinks on the hellish kitchen-worlds, and of course trecherous livingroom and basement battlegrounds. Most of the time its not even on a table, we just mark boundaries on the floor after kicking a few boxes of terrain into place.

They're not dying for some far-off world their emperor sent them to. They're dying because their comissar likes her nachos drenched in their blood. Not that the greater good of my sto'mak sept would ever allow those imperials to take such precious resources

I have got to remember that carrion lord line though...
